Emergency Picket - US Troops Out Of Iraq NOW!

Posted on Wednesday, April 07 at 10:00 by KevinGagnon

Reports coming out of Iraq show that US forces are conducting an indiscriminate attack on civilians in several cities. In Fallujah, US troops have surrounded the city and there are reports of bodies in the streets. No journalists are being allowed into the city.

We call on people to show their opposition to the US' war crimes in Iraq. It is time for the US to leave.

Join this picket to let the Iraqi people know that we are denouncing these crimes and supporting their resistance.

Massacre? get real. The Americans are fighting Islamic extremists and Baath Party supporters in Iraq. Leftists try too hard to believe that the Americans are intent on massacre when they know the reality is that if that were their intention, then many, many more Iraqis would be dead because the Americans have the power.
If the US would pull out then the massacres would start, the Ayatollahs and Imams are expert at inciting violence and the former Iraqi gov't is well practised in killing. The UN would dearly love to have their friend Saddam back in power because they made such good money from him but even though this would please many anti-Americans it is not fair to the majority of people in Iraq. How self-righteous anti-Americans can prefer the existence of 'Rape rooms' and torture chambers to the chance of instilling some freedom for Iraqis is appalling, these people let their own feelings of indignation at American power excuse any atrocity.

But if the US had not stepped into Iraq in the first place, they would not have created a power vacuum and destabilised the region. Looking further back, it's also useful to remember that the US had a hand in bringing Saddam to power in the first place. The UN may have a chance of getting cooperation from the Iraqi people, but the US never did.

From a guy living in <a href='http://dearraed.blogspot.com/'>Baghdad</a></p> <blockquote> You have to be careful about what you say about al-Sadir. Their hands reach every where and you don't want to be on their sh1t list. Every body, even the GC is very careful how they formulate their sentences and how they describe Sadir's Militias. They are thugs, thugs thugs. There you have it.<br> ---<br> Dear US administration,<br> Welcome to the next level. Please don't act surprised and what sort of timing is that it: planning to go on a huge attack on the west of Iraq and provoking a group you know very well (I pray to god you knew) that they are trouble makers.<p></blockquote> GC = Governing Council (of Iraq)<p><p>---<br>"History does not repeat itself, but it does rhyme" Mark Twain <br />

From a young woman living in Baghdad.

...Bremer makes an appearance on tv and says that armed militias will "not" be a part of the New Iraq...where has that declaratiion been the last 12 months while Badir's Brigade has been wreaking havoc all over the country? Why not just solve the problem of Al-Sadr's armed militia by having them join the police force and army, like the Bayshmarga and Badir's Brigage?! Al-Sadr's militia is ond news. No one was bothering them while they were terroizing civilians in the south... Now that they've become a threat to the "Coalition" they suddenly become "terrorists" and "agitators"."

www.riverbendblog.blogspot.com (I don't have what it takes to directly link you. Sorry, but she's worth your effort to go there)

She understands the subtltys of what is going on with this invasion and occupation better than anyone. Raed is not nearly as profound nor as genuine. She cares about Iraq the way I care about Canada.

I'm positive many, many more Iraqis are as dead by the Americans than were ever made dead because of Saddam. But it will likely be years before we're uncovering those graves so we can show someone like you that this kind of behaviour becomes only low life human behaviour. Anyone using depleted uranium against a nation doesn't care who or how many die. In my mind, if the Americans thought they could get away with it they'd annihilate the entire Middle East Arab population and calmly set up their storefronts.

    Links are done through <a http='http://link here'>Link Word</a>

You have to use "HTML formatted" mode. I posted this using text mode, but is comes out squished like this.

Yes, Raed links to Riverbend often. I like them both, for different reasons. Like you say, she's a patriot.

The syntax for the link embed command is
    <a href="http//url here">Site Name here</a>

then change the post mode to html formatted and then submit it. I don't know how you get text that is not all scrunched together when you do this.

Thanks for the help Kevin and Dr Caleb. Can either of you show us how to include text along with the link, just like it would appear in a regular article, know what I mean?

No matter how much you try and explain this process to me I don't understand it. I'm the type that needs to watch what you're doing. What's html? My brain goes flatline. But at least Baghdad Burning got its link. Thanks Kevin. And thanks Dr. Caleb for trying to give me some pointers. I wish I had more time to take an actual lesson or two.
