Kevin" You can reach Kevin at: Kevin Peck kpeck@canadianactionparty.ca For more info on becoming a CAP candidate follow this link to the CAP website: http://www.canadianactionparty.ca and follow the link at the bottom of the page. We need more than 50 candidates in order to be recognized as a political party and receive federal funding. Go for it, if I could afford to I would be in there like a dirty shirt !!

    Hello Jim

Well Jim, I am going to try this once again. I believe that we can build this one big party and CAP can be the catalyst for it. I still haven't lost the dream of Paul Hellyer. This is the time to do it. I believe that this election that their could be a massive realignment and a new party with the right people at the helm can make substantial gains.

So to make this short, we need to bring together the Canadian Action Party, the Progressive Canadian Party and David Orchard supporters. This will do two things it will give the new party much needed Candidates, an ability for tax deductions, an up to date policy structure, the ability to collect funding from Elections Canada to further our work and a place for people to park their vote.

We must then combine the policies of both parties to create a viable alternative to the Liberals, Conservatives and the NDP. If we do this right I know that we will collect voters from all of these parties as well as those who haven't voted before.

As Paul Hellyer wanted lets change the party name to include the word Progressive. In fact CAP has already said that they would change their name to Progressive Canadian and I am sure that the Progressive Canadians will seriously consider this. We can also look at keeping the CAP logo with Progressive Canadian surrounding it. I believe that a letter from CAP and the Progressive Canadian to elections Canada would make this happen in a very short time frame.

As CAP wanted before we would need a change in Constitution. We can take the present CAP and PC constitutions and bring them together for a membership vote. This can all be done while others are getting ready to fight the election. In fact I have already created a straw man constitution which could facilitate this process.

The bringing together of policies could also be done in a short time period. Once again I have been creating a sort of straw man polcies which combine policies from CAP and the Progressive Canadians and have included policies espoused by David Orchard.

I do realize that both parties have to go to the membership but I know that CAP members and indeed the Progressive Canadians would see the need and take immediate action. I believe that the will of leaders on both sides will be the important factor to move this forward to give the membership a choice. Put it to the members I believe that it would be a done deal. We the members in a referendum vote of the parties can make this happen. I mean one member one vote. With the technology today we can do this over the phone, computer, fax etc. If as CAP told the NDP that unification could be done before an election so can this one.

    Absurd idea.

All this will do at the moment is further split the vote. For this election get behind Jack Layton & the NDP if you want to keep the Conservatives from having influence over the next Liberal majority government.

After the election join the NDP and become something similar to the waffle movement, a pressure group from within the NDP. The Progressive Greens should do the same thing.

Don't be crazy. Support the NDP who has stop moving in the polls as I predicted many months ago. It does not matter how many people park their vote with the NDP the only thing this will do is to give them more funding for the next election to do what the NDP do. They have no intention of forming a hugh big progressive party in the centre. Those who believe that they will, well good luck because we will be in the same situation in 4 years time. Why do I know this? Check back to the history, nothing has changed.

In order to move forward we must move out of the box. As in my previous e-mail, this is the opportunity for a new party to move forward. We cannot squander this chance.

But as usual I will bow to democracy and say that I will probably be making the same comments in 4 years time and others will still be saying we should do, we should do and that we change to we should have, we should have. We should have is a good story for history books, no movement ever got started on we should have's.

Well I will wait and see all of these hugh gains that the NDP makes in the next election. I will hear a lot of we should have and I will say I told you so.Then maybe, just maybe, we can get on with the job that has to be done and start forming a new progressive movement.

I agree with Anon to support the NDP. It just makes no sense to split the vote. O.K the NDP is not everything we need in a government. But really, think about time here. Can the CAP get enough seats in this upcoming election to make a difference in the house of commons?

The other anon above say's he predicted the NDP would stop growing in the poll's. O.K and how exactly will CAP gain more then 18% support before this upcoming election. Its not being negative, its just not possible for all of this to happen for CAP before this upcoming election.

The NDP will probably not get more support then the Liberal's, but they do stand a chance of gaining more support then the new conservatives. Splitting the vote is not gonna solve much.

The NDP is our only choice for this upcoming election. After the election we can work with CAP and the one big party idea.

Short term the NDP is the only option for saving what is left to Canada. CAP is a long term plan, and factoring in all the issues that face us before this upcoming election we need to go with the short term route. NDP.

    Kevin
