Canada - U.S. Energy Issues

Posted on Friday, April 28 at 09:42 by jensonj
Our two countries face shared energy challenges. We need to make our respective regulatory regimes efficient, effective and compatible, to increase production in an economical and environmentally friendly manner. We have a common interest in expanding and modernizing our energy infrastructure, whether it's approving new transmission lines, building new gas pipelines from the Arctic or deciding where to site new liquefied natural-gas facilities. I sometimes hear that the United States should do more to conserve energy. In fact, we have very extensive programs to promote efficiency and develop clean energy sources. Last August, the U.S. President signed into law the Energy Policy Act. The Administration mobilized the vast resources of the private sector through tax incentives for developing and commercializing new energy technologies. One well-known effort is the Energy Star program, which rates the energy efficiency of common appliances -- helping businesses and individuals protect the environment and make better use of their energy dollars. Energy Star has been adopted by Canada and has received popular support. http://www.usembassycanada.gov/content/content.asp?section=embconsul&document=wilkins_042206

All baloney. Shared this and shared that and shared all the other - he does not want to state that the US is addicted to Canadian energy.

And he could at least have mentioned that the power breakdown started in Ohio - not in Ontario as Americans are lead to believe. Just as they are told that the terrorists for 9/11 came from Canada, etc. etc.

Ambassadors should be diplomatic but should also be truthful. Half truths are half lies.

Yeah, no kidding, we get screwed at every corner of the so called 'free trade agreement.' I know I`m a dreamer, but if I was PM, I wouldn`t continue to play nicey-nice with those losers.

Go try to sell your propaganda else where Wilkins. You did not have a clue about Canada when you were Ambassador and you certainly don't now.

Your ideas just prove what you and the current Bush administration feels of Canada. They we provide you all the raw materials you need on your terms only and according to only your rules. Other wise look forward to duties and spending 20 years in court.

And thats how you deal with your democratic friendly governments, when you don't like a government democratic or not you then bully in trade as well as any other way possible including militarily.

Can't get along with and threaten or use Military, IRAQ and Afghanistan - next IRAN?

Next on the list and very democratic elected Venezuela, the palistine authority, ( US wants democracy , but doesn't like the results)

Issues with Korea, France, Canada, and pretty much everyone else in the world that did not back then in IRAQ. As BUSH said your either with us or against us in this war on terror, who new he meant that he actually meant that all miltary world wide and border security were supposed to be put under his control and that we all should have invaded IRAQ, Afganistan and who knows who next on the list.

Sorry got a little carried away and off topic but We have had enough of this group of idiots.
