    Perhaps the current method of growing as much cattle as possible is not such a good idea after all. I think it is time to go back to serving smaller localised markets. Crowding many animals together is just asking for trouble. It's the same with avian flu, and foot and mouth. Vegetarians unite!! ;)

    Bovine Spongiform Encephelopathy or 'Mad Cow' disease has been around for ages, the only difference is that we now know what it is and how to test for its presence. It is being stopped because old animals are no longer being fed to new animals.

    Testing for Mad Cow is the big mistake though - look at Britain and France - the Brits tested for it and got burned big time, the French never bothered and enjoyed a great sales market.
