An American In Canada: Are We Numb To Numbers?

Posted on Tuesday, October 24 at 09:57 by jensonj
I don't fault us. Not entirely, anyway. Making us numb to numbers is presumably part of a calculated public relations campaign sponsored by the White House or the U.S. Department of Defence. You just know that some young lawyer with a gift for political spin, sitting in some small basement office in downtown Washington D.C., has polled the numbers about numbers and knows damn well that, over time, a steady sound of counting the dead becomes nothing but wistful white noise, numbers that — even when they refer to murder — no longer have any relationship to people. Just recently, I listened as CNN reported on the Johns Hopkins' findings that clinically suggested 654,000 Iraqis have died, to date, as a consequence of the U.S. invasion and occupation of Iraq. Were we collectively moved to tears by this news? No. We patiently waited for more dirty revelations about Congressman Foley's sex life. Meantime, in that same CNN television report, some multi-starred U.S. General was asked about the Johns Hopkins' findings. He expressed moderate surprise at the findings' estimate of Iraqi dead — but he was hardly nonplussed. He just shrugged and suggested without emotion that he believed the actual number of Iraqi dead to be perhaps “only 50,000.” Perhaps only 50,000? I wasn't sure which was more horrifying: the multi-starred U.S. General being so far off in his estimate, or the multi-starred U.S. General saying that perhaps “only 50,000” Iraqis were dead as a consequence of U.S. actions, without throwing up behind the podium. http://www.rabble.ca/in_his_own_words.shtml?x=53540

The general public's indifference to what is going on in the world is depressing as hell.

Anyone out there care about the global resource wars, false flag terrorism, or the looming fascism???

Before everyone shrugs their shoulders, claiming these issues don't affect them, remember that Canada is one of the top 5 oil producing countries in the world. Furthermore the U.S. imports MORE OIL FROM CANADA than it does from Iraq. The resource wars currently underway affect every Canadian.

Get involved. Prove 9/11 was an Inside Job, and you stop every illegal war, current and future, that resulted from it.
Of course we should be outraged by this report, but who really cares what the american population thinks? They have no control over their government and the people should be calling for sanctions against the United States and the constituents of the International communities.

That means you and I must bring our voices to the U.N. to stop the proliferation of violence. What could change the course is Russia and China and India and others voicing their opposition to more violence instigated by the United States.

China holds a huge amount of US dollars as does Saudi Arabia. All countries that are propping up the US dollar could in effect "Tell" the US if they do not diminish their hostilities that they will "Dump" their US dollars causing a collapse of their economic system. This is doable although the cost to all nations would be Huge, but in comparison to Illegal wars and the future lives lost of innocent people it would be fitting.

People don't care about these issues because they have been conditioned to think that they are powerless to change them. Give them their SUVs, Satellite TV, meaningless 9-5 jobs and they're happy as a pig in sh**. Until, of course, it is too late to give a damn.
