Free Trade Comes At A Price

Somehow, all these things have managed to get linked together as Kiwis head to the polls in less than three weeks. Add to that the recent visit by US Agriculture Secretary Mike Johanns and the fires welding together nuclear-free with free trade are only getting hotter. Nuclear-free NZ is clearly a cherished component of the body politic here. No less a figure than National's Don Brash acknowledged in the midst of last week's leaders' debate that it was indeed, "iconic". Free trade with the United States, on the other hand, is something with which my country, Canada, has more than passing experience over the past two decades. http://www.nzherald.co.nz/index.cfm?c_id=466&ObjectID=10342848
