Conservative Prime Minister Stephen Harper has said a defeat of legislation implementing the controversial trade deal - which he called a confidence measure - could force an early federal election. That scenario could be averted if one opposition party supports the agreement.
The NDP has said it doesn't support the softwood deal and the Liberals said Wednesday it's wants to consult with the forestry industry and examine the deal more closely.
"We don't see at this time what the prime minister has been able to do to enrich the deal," interim Liberal Leader Bill Graham said in Vancouver.
