What Is Stephen Harper Reading?

Posted on Wednesday, April 18 at 07:18 by darthcricket
For as long as Stephen Harper is Prime Minister of Canada, I vow to send him every two weeks, mailed on a Monday, a book that has been known to expand stillness. That book will be inscribed and will be accompanied by a letter I will have written. I will faithfully report on every new book, every inscription, every letter, and any response I might get from the Prime Minister, on this website." http://www.whatisstephenharperreading.ca/index.html Yann Martel

His stillness scares me. I keep thinking, like a snake before the strike,or maybe gathering thrust before the final bowel movement that shits canada out the other end of the world democratic spectrum.

Tickled. This is how I feel about Yann Martel doing this. I liked the entire "Story
behind this website". What is depicted here is just a section of it.

Enjoying and being a parton of the arts is such a Taurus thing. Harper obviously
has missed his calling and ignores his best-self.

I agree 4Canada, this is a great initiative. The incident he describes is truly
heart breaking though. I wonder how different this honouring event would
have been if it were a celebration of military history in Canada? Oh the
parades, the wreaths , the machinery on display, the puffed chests and
    heroes;

there was a WWII Vet in my community who became a teacher of the arts, and
he declared to me that what we need more of is funding and programs for art
and music in schools. He said artists do not make war! He fought, he served
and he learned and when he returned to Canada a proud man, he spent the
rest of his life teaching and speaking about the road to peace through the
    arts.

It is sad to see our national representatives pay so little mind to the important
    things in this life.

The Photo of Harper that Yann Martel has chosen is the most disturbing photo I have seen yet. The eyes are worth a thousand frozen words. If you want to see something truly scarey, right click on the image and view it - the eyes are as cold as space. To give Harper his due his prodigous intellectual capacity has been focussed since birth on the pinnacle of Canadian power. What is the higher goal! President of the NAU?

I have no idea what Harper is reading.

And, truth to tell, maybe it's better that way.

And about his eyes, something about them has always had me wondering as well.

Something wrong with that boy, I tell you.

Funny thing, I've been commenting and writing about Harper's eyes when he was the right hand man of Manning, years ago and I'm glad to see that others are beginning to pick up on this scary feature.

I wrote it many times that I've seen the same expressionless, snake eyes under Totenkopf and Red Star caps and they gave me the willies ever since I saw the first photo and especially TV picture of the man.

As far what he's reading, I can quote our homegrown BC billionaire Jim Pattison, who now collected some $4.5 billion into his pocket. He said it in a TV interiew some years ago, that he only reads the Bible and financial statements, shown in his private jet with the Bible in his hand.

I have suspicion that Harper is one of the same rebored, or is it "born again" gang, who can do nothing wrong as everything they do has been predestined, therefore sanctioned by God.

    Flat Cath,

You say: "I wonder how different this honouring event would
have been if it were a celebration of military history in Canada? Oh the
parades, the wreaths , the machinery on display, the puffed chests and
    heroes;..."

I think that has already been evidenced in all the Vimy! Vamy! Whammy!
Bammy! we've had to endure over the last month and will continue to endure
as long as we have our military in Afghanistan.

Martel's response seems appropriate for an "artist". I have too many other
things going on to get the computer training I would need to make all the
things I would like to say and depict as public as he has and you have for that
    matter. Keep it coming.

I agree the eyes are very revealing, or not ....the eyes are said to be the windows
of the soul....as for the predestined by God comment, Ed, if that were true why
does he need an image consultant/psychic to advise him? And why the heck are
we paying for it??? Of course carrying a Bible and actually understanding a Bible
are not the same thing, also some people call all kinds of books their Bible, and
it may or may not be a holy book or the Bible that most people think of when
that word is used. I've heard people refer to their diary as their Bible.
