Afghans Block Highway Shouting 'Death To Canada'

Posted on Sunday, September 30 at 11:02 by rearguard
Many of them said they now understand the Canadians were not to blame for the killings, but they predicted that Canadian soldiers will bear the consequences because they're the most powerful force in Zhari district, and most ordinary people can't distinguish between Canadian and American troops. I still don't understand why these articles on the Afghan war don't make it onto the front page. One would think that angry Afghan's shouting <strong>"Death to Canada"</strong> is news worthy, even for this website.

I think Dio's brilliant response to your deflection ought to be the final word.

"..most ordinary people can't distinguish between Canadian and American troops."

Both troops are foreigners and do the same job. There is no need to distinguish between the two. The different colours of uniforms don't make a differance.

There's an article concerning Canada's involvement in the annexation of Afghanistan posted on the front page. So please remind me again, what's the policy?

The policy is to highlight original work on the front page.

It's also to not post 'War & Peace' on the front page.

Catch-22. So I gave Robert the spotlight for his hard work. I could have re-sectioned to comply with the rule, but his article is more about 'Peace' than it is about 'War'.

The rule, as sent to me from on high, is breakable. So long as it's done rarely.

Canadian Soldiers paying for the miststeps of our allies, while sad and very important to Canada is not all that important to Vive or it's mission.

You forget - I'm on your side. I'd set almost everything in 'War and Peace' as front page. But such is the life of an Editor. We do what the big boss wants, and I sneak stuff under the radar where I can.

    My thoughts as well.

The only reason for this Afghan war policy is that it attempts to hide Canada's war from sight. The war ought to be one of Vive's major concerns no less so than the SPP, since it has a lot to do with Canada's sovereignty. Here we are, defending and expanding the Empire over the objections of most Canadians. IF Canada were a sovereign nation, it would fight its own battles, not someone else's.

"It's also to not post 'War & Peace' on the front page."

Can you expand on that, or did the order from above leave out the reasoning?

Imagine that, Canada at war, and Vive could not care less?????

In any event, if you are sneaking things in under the wire, then I applaud the effort.

I agree with you, but for the opposite reason. I think it's a demonstration of our sovereignty that we pick our own battles, such as Afghanistan over Iraq.
