Are You Left Or Right?

I found this interesting website that has you take a test to see how you sit on the political compass. There are some fairly interesting questions that make you think. The only drawback is that it is based out of the UK.... but then again, maybe that's a good thing too.

WoW !! Am I ever off the scale to the Left !! I wouldn\'t have thought so before taking this test, give it a try, I\'d be interested in how others see themselves.

I know I lean to the left, but WoW !!

    here are mine:
    economic -7.00, social -6.15
I guess it\'s no surprise that I like Chomsky so much. I\'ve also got/read a whole bunch of the books they recommend, like the ones by Stiglitz, Naomi Klein, Schlosser, Orwell, Palast & I\'m very familiar with the writings of Moore (except he\'s got nothing new to say), Blum, Kropotkin, Goldman & Monbiot.

Not surprisingly I\'m \"Libertarian left\". I guess that\'s accurate--I\'d say I\'m somewhere between a socialist (without being one) and say, a Red Tory. I generally consider myself a small-l liberal. I believe in some government intervention, not being purely anti-government, but I prefer criticial thinking, more democratic institutions, and questioning authority rather than simply following it.

Too bad there isn\'t a scale specifically for Canadians that took into account our own brands of politics. Maybe we should offer one! :)

Yeah. I dind\'t like Chretien being clearly left-of-centre. He changed. I also think they should have included the pre-1980s, Canadian-Conservatism, which which pretty middle-of-the-road.

Personally. I scored: -9.85, and -6.15. Personally, I think they put me a little to close to \"Libertarian\". but I\'ll take the extreme left-wing rating they gave me.

Since everyone is posting their scores, here\'s mine:

    -6.62 and -2.00

I\'m somewhat surprised that I ended up on the Libertarian side, since I rather thought of myself as more authoritarian.

Perhaps in one module I skewed the results, and I think I will take the test again (if they\'ll let me) and redo that module exactly the opposite and compare the results.

    I love a challenge !!

Now I\'m not so sure. I retook the test, changed answers in one module, and my results were Identical !!

Oh well, it was a little fun, anyway.

I sure don\'t think Chretien belongs where he is anymore.

That boy is authoritarian, if I ever saw one. Remember the choke-hold ?? Libertarian, my butt !!

See Dubya Run !! As far right as you can get. That about sums it up !!

    Good fun.

Too bad it didn't include Canadian politics. I was more toward Gerhard Schroder in quadrant 2. (2, -2.5)<p> But I do so hate narrowing myself into an orderly little box. Everyone has good and bad ideas. Norrowing oneself like this just gives you no wiggle room. You have to accept a parties bad along with the good. But like you, I'd say I was more a Red-Tory, like Deif before Truman turned him into a US whipping boy.<p> <p>---<br>"History does not repeat itself, but it does rhyme" Mark Twain

I`m so far left that I can`t see my right! I was economic: -9.00 and libertarian -7.15 ! Of course, I knew this! But yeah, Chretien I think was misplaced on the scale! He`s further right than that! We know from experience!
