This barbarism is all part of a society/regime that is poisoned by its Calvinist roots. Too many Yanks still think they are 'wandering in the wilderness' ala the Hebrews of old and thus must 'wipe out' all who offend. Never mindcause or circumstance. It is not by accident that the incarceration rate 'south of the border' is the highest in the world-some 701 per 100K.Canada's is a fraction of that.

Yeah they're way ahead of us when it comes to incarceration, but last time I checked we were in 2nd, the only other country at >100/100K.

Although I shudder at the thought of America's continued policy of state execution, I feel it is important to note that it has been estimated in some circles that China executes up to 10,000 people a year--far shy of American numbers. However, if one were to tally-up the death toll that the US is responsible for WORLDWIDE, I'm sure the gap between China and America would narrow substantially, if not disappear altogether. Peace.
