O'Connor Must Resign Over Torture Of Prisoners, Says Green Party

Posted on Monday, April 23 at 19:37 by JimmyD
"In the face of these terrible revelations, the federal government must now stop stalling and launch a full independent civilian inquiry into the treatment of Afghan prisoners detained by Canadian troops," said the Green Party spokesperson on international relations and global security, David Chernushenko. Chernushenko said the government should also move immediately to: Suspend all prisoner transfers until an effective and verifiable Prisoner Treatment and Verification Agreement has been negotiated with Afghan authorities. Make financial reparations to torture victims and families of prisoners who have disappeared after being in Canadian custody. Fund and maintain, in partnership with the Afghan government, a database to track the status and location of Afghan prisoners and provide timely updates on their whereabouts and condition to family members. "Contrary to the stated beliefs of the Prime Minister, support for the Geneva Convention is not tantamount to support for the Taliban," said Ms. May. "It is not a choice between supporting fundamental human rights and supporting our troops. "How do we protect our troops if they are taken captive when we have shown contempt for the Geneva Convention? How do we call ourselves a decent nation?" http://www.greenparty.ca/en/releases/23.04.2007 [Proofreader's note: this article was edited for spelling and typos on April 25, 2007]

    The Green party is blowing more wind again. Gordon O'Connor should be arrested for treason because he and his predecessors took Canada to war based on outright lies.<br />
    <br />
    How soon we've forgotten what took Canada to war. It was only a few years ago that the 9/11 attacks where used as the pretext for attacking Afghanistan to "get Osama Bin Laden".<br />
    <br />
    But, here's the final "nail in the coffin" proof that 9/11 was an inside job: <a href="http://stopthelie.com/the_evidence_is_in.html">http://stopthelie.com/the_evidence_is_in.html</a><br />
    <br />
    The fact that the 9/11 attacks were not the job of Muslim extremists based in Afghanistan could not be any more clear.<br />
    <br />
    We know that Canada never had a legitimate reason to be involved in the conquest of Afghanistan, yet according to the Greens, it wants to keep Canada bottled up in Afghanistan doing "reconstruction" which is nothing more than a feel good euphemism for the same old brutal tactics of colonialism.<br />
    <br />
    As usual in Canadian politics, the parties that get all the attention end up looking like identical twins, with only minor personality quirks to tell them apart.<br />

    You conveniently skipped right over the 9/11 lie, which is *the* reason why Canadian troops are in Afghanistan today.

    http://www.pbs.org/frontlineworld/stori ... index.html <blockquote>Kiley's film is an unfiltered and often painstaking look at the other realities of war: solitary mortar fire into a barren mountainside at a seemingly faceless enemy; winning the trust of the Afghan people one mud-brick village at a time; and the futility and frustrations that often come with these encounters.</blockquote> No doubt getting those ungrateful Afghans to love the "reconstruction" crew is a very tough job, that's why guns and bombs are needed to blast away or torture to death whoever disagrees.

    As is common in our discussions. I know your views on it, you know mine. Why rehash was nethier of us will budge on?

    I am simply presenting a new insight into what you refer to as 'colonialism'. After seeing that documentary, I doubt you could call anything in it 'colonialism'.

    'Heartbreaking' perhaps. I doubt it would change your opinion of what Canadian Forces are doing in A'stan, but it may enhance your insight.

    When the video is available, watch it. Not one gun. No bombs.

    Just stark naked red-tape, where help is needed.

    Because this time around Dr Steven Jones has completed his research on samples from the WTC demolitions, and his spectral analysis matches up perfectly with what a thermate reaction would produce, which proves conclusively the towers were brought down with thermate, which means the 9/11 story is a lie, which means Canada went to war based on a lie, which means Canada is in Afghanistan because the US government blew up their own towers and made up a false story about Osama Bin Laden and terrorism.<br />

    Where we are today leads right back to the 9/11 lie. Canada never had a legitimate reason to send in its military and shoot up Afghanistan. That's not "my view", that's a well established fact.<br />

    "When the video is available, watch it. Not one gun. No bombs."

    What in the hell is the Canadian military doing in Afghanistan then? You should know me well enough by now not bother tossing bullshit in my direction.

    I saw Stockwell Day on CBC last night refusing to back down on the practice of handing over prisioners without assurances they aren't being tortured. No surprise there, but what I couldn't get over was Snotwhelp at the mike in front of, and obscuring 90% of the Canadian flag behind him, with the the US flag at his right side up front and center 100% visible. WTF kind of protocol is that? Why was an American flag in attendance at all?

    You should know me well enough to read my responses.

    The video is not about combat, it is about reconstruction. That is what the CF is doing in this report, and that cannot be accomplished with bombs.

    The report is what we promise we will do, and what the 'brass' decides we need to do. The two are incompatible.

    "The video is not about combat, it is about reconstruction. That is what the CF is doing in this report, and that cannot be accomplished with bombs."

    What are the bombs for then? The occupation troops are carrying around guns and bombs are they not? With guns and bombs around all over the place, what's this video worth other than as a show piece of what propaganda can accomplish?

    "Why was an American flag in attendance at all?"

    Because Day's bosses told him to put it there. When
    you're a sellout, you don't have any choice but to screw
    over your own kind when you're ordered to do so.

    Let's buy some more tanks to help out the
    reconstruction project in Afghanistan. This government
    doesn't give two shits about their own citizens, they're
    going to care about some strangers half way around
    the world? Let's cut the crap already.

    How does that Fleetwood Mac song go? "Tell me lies,
    tell me sweet little lies."

    Most recently,O'Connor announced that the Afghan Government and Canada, had been mulling the situation for the past several days. An agreement was made that Canadians will be "allowed" to check in on those prisoners previously arrested and turned over. It has also been revealed that the meetings WERE NOT made in the past several days and only one brief meeting made yesterday. Another blatant lie.
