Canada Handing Over Travellers' Info To Ashcroft

Posted on Sunday, October 24 at 19:43 by sthompson

"...We need the assistance of Canada and we need the assistance of individuals around the world," he said...

Here's the worst part:

...As part of the plan, the Canada Border Services Agency is gathering data about air travelers entering Canada and sharing the information with U.S. agencies. There are plans to expand that to entry by ship, ferry, bus and other commercial means."

Ah, freedom.

So if we're from the land of freedom & democracy, & we travel to Cuba for 3 weeks every year they'll find out!?

Oh heaven forbid for any of us to travel to that fine littel island in the stream to find out what freedom is really like!

It's good that the US is encouraging Canada to take security seriously, it's about time. But Canada still has a long way to go considering a terrorist who attacked an airliner with guns and grenades, killing one of the passengers, is still here 16 years after he was given a deportation order. He's free to roam around too, it's unbelievable how callous Canadians can be.

The Libels and Cons have no idea of how to do the "right" thing by Canadians. It's clear they no longer work for us.

This is a perfect example of Liberal stupidity and sellout. In the spirit of cooperation and political prowess, it would of been just as easy to tell the Americans: Sure we will gladly help you Uncle Sam, simply provide Canada with your paranoid list of Islamic names and and we'll run our list of airline passengers against it on an hourly basis. If a match occurs, we will immediately notify you.

Not only does this move hand over our sovereignty on a silver platter, it's a threat to everything from business competitiveness to privacy. If anyone thinks Americans will use these lists for the soul purpous of fighting terror, I've got prime realestate swamp land to sell.

Sorry just noticed, the anonymous directly above this post was me. Noticed quite a few anonymous from the south. Dick Cheney is an anonymous in my opinion.

Please! Canadians Callous? *cough* sure we are. What is callous is your government conveniently forgetting that 16 of the 19 hijackers were Saudi's. Where is your moral rage now anonymous? You are picking the wrong battle.

Would be far, far worse under the neo-cons.
