Businesses Want Private Health Care

Health Minister George Smitherman disagreed, pointing to recent investments in the province by auto giants Ford Motor Company, General Motors and Toyota fuelled in part by Ontario's publicly funded health-care system. "The automotive investments in Ontario over the course of the last several months stand as pretty solid evidence that health care is one of our key economic advantages," Smitherman said. "The chamber will need to be very balanced in its consideration to make sure that in a rush to endorse some private panacea that we're not making mistakes . . . to lose the competitive advantage that we currently enjoy." Ontario's publicly funded health-care system, along with federal and provincial financial support, played a key role in the decisions by the three car makers to investment in the province. http://www.canada.com/hamilton/news/story.html?id=77451dc9-4bd5-4dad-a665-60d7e066a85f

It is a fallacy that private health care will lower health costs for Canadian Businesses in Canada. Already they enjoy not having to pay for majority of health coverage that that their American counterparts have to deal with.

In 1995, only 10 years ago, GM released that out of every one Dollar profit they made, with in the boundaries of the United States, 48 cents went to cover their employee’s health care coverage alone.

When you compare the coverage of the Canadian Businesses and U.S. Businesses, Canadian Businesses pay roughly 11 cents of every Dollar profit on employee Health care coverage back then.

Let’s not forget all Canadians are covered in Canada which is by far not the case in the United States of America! All Canadians pay for health care in Canada based on their ability to pay and lowering the financial burden as well as operating costs on other social programs.

So where is the advantage? Except for American Companies adding Canadians to their health care providers lists and signalize health care plans!

Also, my I add that there maybe no waiting lists down in the United States of America. If you can't pay for it or you don't have insurance coverage then you don't get treated period. There is no waiting list. Those that do not have insurance but have a good paying job then you spend most of your life paying for health care services that you had no option but to get done. And that is because you could no longer put it off due to it getting so bad it gave you no option left.

Well, Toyota thinks the exact opposite. They came to Canada because of our health system in part. Our public system was cited as reason number one for coming here. <br />
