Doug Horner, Minister of Advanced Education and Technology, said the water and environmental science facility builds on the government’s foundational work in water research, “This initiative ties back to our commitment to managing and sustaining Alberta’s water resources under the Water for Life strategy. Our growing knowledge on the quality, control and usage of our water is critical for our long-term environmental, social and economic well-being.” "The University of Lethbridge has taken a leadership position in water research because of its strategic importance to the economy and quality of life in Alberta,” said Bill Cade, President of the University of Lethbridge. “We are pleased the Government of Alberta is recognizing our initiatives through its support for this very significant research facility." .... Alberta Water and Environmental Science Building The Alberta Water and Environmental Science Building is a partnership between the University of Lethbridge and seven provincial and federal research partners including Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, Animal Diseases Research Institute, Health Canada, Environment Canada, Alberta Environment, Alberta Agriculture and Food, and the Alberta Irrigation Districts. Research at the facility will include understanding of water use in agriculture and the agri-food sector of the economy.
