Under the new arrangement, the money for the schools will go first to a public school board. The board will then pass on most of the money to the Jewish schools.
Five of these schools have already signed agreements with the Marguerite-Bourgeoys School Commission in Montreal. Two other schools are about to sign with the Lester B. Pearson board.
Some officials at public boards oppose the plan. Marcus Tabachnik, of the Lester B. Pearson Board, says he feels private schools should not be funded in the first place......

Response from the PQ: (can't really disagree)
PQ says funding for Jewish schools unfair
MONTREAL - The Parti Québécois wants the Liberal government to reverse a decision to boost funding to Jewish schools.
The Liberals say they'll increase funding to Jewish schools that associate themselves with public boards. The Jewish schools will also have to continue to teach the province's curriculum.
But the PQ's education critic, Pauline Marois, says the deal is unfair. "If they respect the criteria of public schools and use the public curriculum, why don't they send their children to public schools?" she says.
Marois says the province should be supporting only the public school system.
When she was education minister under the PQ, she refused to boost funding to Jewish schools. Marois did agree to give more money to Greek private schools........

--Go figure she'd do that (fund Greek schools) in office, and no I do not support these isolationist schools. I did attend a Catholic school for part of my education, and liked it, but I think a group of millions is a little bit different than a Greek or Jewish school.
No religious school or private school of any kind should ever recieve government funding, it's completely wrong. Those schools should be taxed as businesses and the parents of the children who attend should in no way be given a tax break for sending their kids to these places.
Kill all state funding of private schools - they are supposed to me "market" driven, so much more efficient than public schools etc, so why are we subsidising them at all?
