Two-Thirds (66%) Say It's Time For A Change: Only 29% Say Liberals Deserve To Be Re-Elected ...

Martin and Liberal Campaign Momentum Plummets

Toronto, ON, June 1, 2004 - A new Ipsos-Reid/CTV/Globe and Mail poll released tonight indicates that after a week of campaigning the bottom has fallen out of the Liberal strong-hold in Ontario. If an election were held today the survey shows Canadians would elect a weak Liberal minority. If this trend continues there's now a possibility that the Conservative Party of Canada could form a minority government.

Even if the cons somehow manage to pull off a minority government with the bloc, it's gonna be a very nasty situation. The bloc is left leaning and the cons will have a really hard time getting their nutbar social and taxation legislation passed. However, getting their decentralisation agenda through may be a little easier. That, however, would be just as deadly for Canadian identity as would be anti-progressive social and taxation policies.

Ultimately the GG is going to have to decide who commands the confidence in the House. With those numbers and given the stark ideological divisions, governing is not going to be easy for anyone. Governments may not last more than a span of a few months and we could be looking at more elections in the next year. All things said, this is a really cool time for political junkies.

Hopefully the Conservatives will win a majority, then no one need worry about nasty alliances with the seperatists or socialists and Canada can once again become safe for Canadians.

Well all the above comments assume the negative, and I truly believe that if we could stop accepting the polls, stop believing the media spin and start really thinking, we would see that NDP is the only party that really is talking Canadian! This is not a dream when you listen to Layton, he doesn't hesitate, or have to recall his 'script' he speaks straight to the issue, and no double talk. We can do it, if we believe we can!

How exactly is Canada unsafe? Crime rates keep dropping. There has never been a terrorist attack on Canadian soil. Are you afraid of the evil doer polar bears?

Crime rate keep's dropping. Please do provide some data on this. Thanks. I'm gonna say that Toronto's crime isn't decreasing.

I see a minority Liberal Goverment, Martin as PM.
I see campaign to remove him as Leader/PM by late 04, early 05.
Possible election for Summer or Winter of 2005 with new Leader. Possibly Jean Charest, who would step down as Quebec Preimer and take over Fed.

If Tories do form minority, I see tough choices for canada- west and east. Not looking forward to!

Um i know torontonians think that toronto is the benchmark for everything Canadian but...it's really not. I was talking nationally. The crime rate may very well be increasing in toronto. Do we care in Winnipeg? um, no.

Consider this scenario as a chilling possibility. Both Paul Martin and Stephen Harper have similar views on where Canad'a economy should be going, and to align it even more closely with the US economy. Both have stated this more than once. They only disagree on where the money should be spent. So, in the event of a minority government by either the Libs or the Cons, they will forge a "memoradum of understanding" between themselves that, in order to preserve and enhance the prosperity and security of the the nation and its citizens, the Libs and Cons will collaborate in ensuring that both a North American "defense" perimeter is established, and that trade between these countries is "expidited". Don't forget, this will be done in the name of security, and that the Canadian Council of CEO's (salivating as they are over the prospects of getting some of the action should Canada participate in SDI), has nothing to do with it (honest!). Now that I find quite chilling!

Thanks to CSIS and RCMP, Al-Qaeda links to Radical Polar Bear faction, aka(RPB,) has been severed, and all that remains is the "mopping up". Clever application of global warming phenomena by our security agencies should ensure eventual demise of RPB threat.
