Marc Garneau Calls For Space Policy

"... perhaps it is time for Canada to develop a space policy. Canada has done remarkable things in space, if you look at the fact that we were the 3rd country in space, with the launch of Alouette I back in 1962. There is a string of accomplishments where Canada has used space, in a sense, as a policy tool to accomplish national objectives, and I would encourage the government today to continue to do that. Space is becoming more & more important, & certainly if we look at the very ambitious space programs in countries such as China, India & Brazil are developing in order to play catch-up with the United States, Russia and Europe. That should indicate to us how important space is...."
