Israel Finds Hezbollah A Formidable Force

Posted on Thursday, August 17 at 09:53 by RPW
- The first details of a sophisticated underground Hezbollah bunker system emerged Thursday in a Haaretz newspaper article by Israel's most respected military correspondent, Zeev Schiff. - The video showed a night-vision video camera linked to a computer that was capable of firing Russian-made Sagger anti-tank missiles by remote control. The video also showed that the house was stocked with missiles, assault rifles, grenades, rocket launchers and a wall-sized aerial photo of Kiryat Shemona, the Israeli city across the border that's been hit with more than 700 rocket strikes in the past month. - Israeli commanders also have been alarmed by the Shiite fighters' unorthodox use of anti-tank missiles. Not only have they fired them on the vaunted armored corps, destroying an undisclosed number of tanks, but they also used them to blast through at least two buildings that Israeli soldiers had taken positions in, with extraordinary lethality. - The fighting continued into Thursday, with expectations that the Israeli death toll would rise. http://www.realcities.com/mld/krwashington/15236844.htm ____________________________________________ Doesn't seem to be much information of this sort being published in OUR local papers. Could it be that the IDF is actually retreating, rather than absorb far more casualties than it is prepared to risk?

Saggers linked to night-vision video cameras. That's brilliant! I wouldn't have thought the Sagger could punch a Merkav, but maybe the Russians are still upgrading them?

Necessity is indeed the mother of invention, no? I thought that pretty sharp too.

Iran is manufacturing their own version of the "Sagger" and improving the design.

Iran makes a copy of the Russian AT-3 9M14M (Sagger or Ra’ad) anti-tank guided missile. An improved version of RAAD missile, RAAD-T missile, incorporates a tandem warhead armament system and due to new airframe, its maneuverability increased considerably. Irrespective of the year and place of production, all versions of RAAD missiles can be upgraded to the new version. The RAAD-T weapon system is a portable anti-tank guided missile, which is used to attack any armored fighting vehicle including those with Explosive Reactive Armor (ERA). In field operations, only by one ground guidance equipment, up to four missiles on their launchers can be shot, each in every 30 seconds. The system Safety and Arming Device (SAD) provides a high level of safety during the transportation and handling besides a reliable arming in operation. It is transported in new packing and tested with new equipment. By impacting the target, even at high angles of attack, explosion of the front charge, will remove the Explosive Reactive Armor (ERA) and after a delay time, the main charge will be exploded and the tank distrusted.

source

The fact is, which is hardly to never mentioned in our North American press, is that modern weapons that can stand up to (and in some cases exceed) US systems are being manufactured by and/or are being sold to countries that the USrael and its allies/puppets deem to be "unfriendly".

The attack on Lebanon was a test of what could happen on a miniature scale compared to an attack on Iran or Syira.

While a US equiped military force generally has air supremacy (Russia however has a formidable hightech airforce), they cannot take the ground with ease, and in fact a well defended nation can inflict huge losses on a ground offensive and even repel it, as we just witnessed Hezbollah do to Israeli forces.

In contrast, the invasion of Iraq was a simple affair by comparison. Iraq was bombed out by US and British forces over a period of 13 years (killing up to an estimated million children due to the destruction of basic infrastructure), and Saddam's army was decimated by both the war with Iran followed by the failed invasion of Kuwait that resulted in sanctions and regular bombings (this "shoot the hostages" policy was supported by NATO and the UN - nice guys eh?).

Afghanistan was also simple (but it won't be for much longer). A decimated 3rd world nation barely recovering after a 10 year war against the Soviet occupation, and years of civil war after the Soviets left. The peace the country saw under the Taliban lasted only 4 years, so there was little time to rebuild and modernize. However, sooner or later, the Afghan resistence will get a hold of modern weapons and learn techniques on how to inflict persistent and damaging blows to the occupying forces. As we can see with Iraq, low tech weapons in the right hands can do a great deal of persistent damage. Throughout history, the Afghan people have proven themselves capable of repeling technically superior occupations.

An attack on Iran or Syria, who have well equiped and trained armies, will require a forced conscription, and many 10's of thousands of attacking soldiers will die, and 10 fold that or more will be permanently maimed for life.

We may hear calls for using tactical nukes if "our" war criminal leaders don't back off (or get force-kicked out and tossed into the slammer).

We may also see another 9/11 style false flag operation, using a nuke, to be blamed on Iran. Given the huge numbers of people who have come around to see the truth about 9/11, I hope for our sake that such a thing will not be convincing enough.

"Naturally, the common people don't want war ... but after all it is the leaders of a country who determine the policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in every country."
- [Hermann Goering]

---
"We can have a democracy or we can have great wealth concentrated in the hands of the few. We cannot have both."
