Here is the letter I submitted to BC Privacy Commisioner Mr. David Loukidelis. It is good the deadline has been extended. Feel free to copy, paste, add your thoughts, sign, and send this letter if it helps to make it more convenient to act on this.
info@oipcbc.ca Remember to put "Submission on the USA Patriot Act" in the subject line

    Dear Mr. Loukidelis:

I understand you are interested in knowing what British Columbians think about the government's plan to contract out the administration of the Medical Services Plan, PharmaCare and other public services to American multi-national corporations and subjecting our personal information to the FBI at the end of August, 2004.

In the first place the incumbent government was not elected under any kind of mandate to engage in the sort of privatization policies it has undertaken to inflict on the good citizens of this province. In the second place, how dare any government contemplate this sort of treasonous and dangerous act on my behalf.

In an age of identity theft and growing intrusions into private information, MSP, PharmaCare, payroll services, IT Helpdesk, Provincial Revenue, Disaster Recovery and other public services should be kept safe by unionized members in the public service who are bound by an oath of confidentiality, not contracted out where it places our privacy at peril. For all this I gladly pay my taxes.

As a traumatized and concerned citizen of British Columbia I will be doing everything in my power to ensure a change of government in the next election. This goes too far.

    Sincerely

    ---

Gina, What is the address to send submissions? The
site has great info but it is not very friendly in terms of
finding quick info on where to send a letter asap.
    Thanks.
