Quebec Police Admit They Went Undercover At Montebello Protest

Posted on Friday, August 24 at 08:15 by N Say
Police came under fire Tuesday, when a video surfaced on YouTube that appeared to show three plainclothes police officers at the protest with bandanas across their faces. One of the men was carrying a rock. In the video, protest organizers in suits order the men to put the rock down, call them police instigators and try unsuccessfully to unmask them. Protesters said they gathered to voice their concern about Canada losing control of its energy and water resources and borders. Others decried what they called a high level of secrecy at the summit. The Quebec provincial police will not comment any further on the affair, a spokeswoman in Montreal said. Quebec Justice Minister Jacques Dupuis was made aware of the news, but a spokesman from his office said he will not comment on the matter either. http://www.cbc.ca/canada/story/2007/08/23/police-montebello.html And: Rock-wieding agitators. Contributed by: Anonymous They did it posted by Garth Turner on 08.23.07 @ 11:33 am | 170 Comments Update to original post below What had its public genesis on YouTube; what so many people came to see as self-evident; what most major MSM outlets ignored; what many posters to this blog scoffed at and mocked; and what is so chilling, has tonight been confirmed. Canadian police officers infiltrated the anti-SPP protest in Montebello this week as masked, rock-wieding agitators. The video here begs the question of what mischief these agents provocateurs would have created, and what mayhem might have ensued, if they had not been stopped by other protestors who feared violence. It also makes us wonder, in a multi-agency and co-ordinated police event, months in the planning and execution at the summit, if it was even possible for a rogue police acton to occur. Could one of the police forces, in this case the SQ, have acted alone in this stunning attempted deception? How dangerous was it to plant agitators in the middle of an explosive demonstration outside the building where heads of state were meeting? Would such a plan have required political approval, or advance knowledge by the PMO, for example? Or the security minister, Stockwell Day? http://www.garth.ca/weblog/2007/08/23/provocation/ And: Agents posed as protesters Contributed by: Anonymous {Rural?} Quebec police admit agents posed as protesters Aug 23, 2007 09:33 PM STEVE LAMBERT CANADIAN PRESS MONTREAL—With the proof caught on video, Quebec provincial police were forced to admit Thursday that three undercover agents were playing the part of protestors at this week’s international summit in Montebello, Que. But the Quebec police force denied they were attempting to provoke protestors into violence. Rather, they said the three were planted in the crowd to locate any protestors who were not peacefully demonstrating. Police said the trio’s cover was blown when they refused to toss any objects. “At no time did the Quebec provincial police officers act as agents provocateurs or commit criminal acts. Also, it is not part of the policy of the police force nor is it part of its strategy to act in this manner. At all times, the officers responded to their mandate to maintain law and order,” the QPP said in a news release on Thursday night. The police said after viewing a video clip from YouTube.com and video shot by police officers, they were able to confirm the three were Quebec provincial police officers. Earlier, both the QPP and the RCMP had denied altogether any of their officers were involved. The Quebec provincial police declined to comment further, a spokeswoman in Montreal said. And while Quebec Justice Minister Jacques Dupuis was made aware of the news, a spokesman from his office said he will not comment on the matter either. Public Safety Minister Stockwell Day rejected opposition calls Thursday for an inquiry into agents role in trying to provoke protesters into violence at this week’s North American leaders summit in Montebello, Que. “I’ve made the inquiries and there was no RCMP that were involved as far as those three individuals go,” Day told reporters after making a crime-prevention announcement in Winnipeg. http://www.thestar.com/News/article/249291 (Note to editor, I have also submitted MP Garth Turner's comments on this, you may wish to combine the items?) Me thinks that what these clowns are doing will do wonders for our sick democracy. Anyhow it is a good test on how sick it is.

I had always taken allegations of police (political) agitators stirring thing up in these situations as so much rhetoric. I stand corrected!
It would seem that in the future those that want a PEACEFULL demonstration should challenge ANYONE who has their face covered. I see no need to hide your identity unless you have in the past, or are going to now, create “trouble” or push the limits of the right to protest too far. But then I have never attended, nor are lightly to, one of these rallys.
I do want to applaud those that did however, between the protests and the online postings this issue is at last seeing the light of day. At last check there were over 1200 hits on current new articles found by Google news, when compared with other top stories that is very high. TV news coverage has been rather sparse so far, bet this now makes the evening news though!
I am also encouraged that MP Turner has picked up on this, I am no Liberal or any other party supporter for that matter, but he is (I believe)the only MP to daily post a publicly available commentary. I admire his guts to publish his opinions and his strong support of OPEN dialog and debate both inside and outside of the parliamentary system. Irregardless of your political leanings he deserves our support.

PS, Yes that second bit was my submission, I was in such a rush to post the news that the QPP had blown it that I failed to notice that I was not logged on!)

Indeed! It's a shame the 'entrapment' isn't really a legal concept here. And I doubt the sheeple will pay attention long enough to realize just how free speech has gone in the toilet because of the gestapo actions such as this.

I've even seen people praising the cops for laying a beating on protesters. I wonder if they are paying attention.

First: What I saw & heard before the video rolls!

As I was walking westward on 148 through the town of Montebello these 3
individuals were moving up route 148, going towards the main confrontation
at the gates of the Chateau Montebello. They were confronted initially be the
rouge/noir before the Crevier Gas Station on 148. The rouge/noir told them
to backtrack, to go away, to get lost. The 3 individuals seemed perplexed at
being outed. The 3 individuals veered off to the right, off of route 148, to the
quiet 2nd line of police on route 323. They were then 100% outed by the
union leaders & Council of Canadians.

Second: Thus the QPP statement today "The police officers were identified by
demonstrators when they refused to throw projectiles" is 100% false.

Why you ask: because they were initially caught before the Crevier gas station
by the rouge/noir. They were still over 1000 feet away from their primary
target, 400 feet before the traffic lights. It would have been pointless to throw
a rock towards the main police line - it would have fallen short! Otherwise
they should be playing outfield for the Yankees. And if they were aiming for
the 323 line, that would make them the best curve ball pitcher ever. 90
    degrees. Vow.

    QPP busted!

Not since exiting the forum during the 1993 Stanley cup riots have I witnesed
    such mismanagement.

MPs Julian and Davies letter to Stockwell Day"

    Hon. Stockwell Day
    Minister of Public Safety
    House of Commons
    Ottawa, ON K1A 0A6
    Dear Minister,
As Members of Parliament we are writing you with great concern regarding the
allegations of the use of agents provocateurs during the peaceful protests against
the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America summit on August 20, 2007
    at Montebello, Quebec.
Along with hundreds of other Canadian citizens who participated in the Monday
protest, we were both alarmed at the enormous police presence. We are more
shocked at the allegations that inside agents, appearing to be working with riot
police, attempted to provoke a violent incident during the peaceful demonstration.
Video and photograph evidence has led to many unanswered questions.
We are calling on you as Minister to order an immediate inquiry to uncover whether
or not agent provocateurs were used at the peaceful protests in Montebello.
If agent provocateurs were present, the public deserves answers to valid questions,
    including:

Who are the three individuals alleged to be agent provocateurs?
    • Was the Government of Canada informed that such measures would be used
as part of the security detail at the summit?
    • Were the RCMP or other security forces at the summit, including from the US,
privy to the use of such a security tactic?
    • Who was responsible for providing direction to the agents? , Were the agents
directed to use force and/or violent means to disrupt the peaceful protest?
    • Finally, if agent provocateurs were used, what was the expected outcome in
deliberately trying to destabilize a democratic protest in Canada?
We believe these are critical questions that cannot go ignored - questions that
concern the relationship between state security forces and the potential infringement
of democratic rights to peaceful assembly protest and to freedom of expression. As
Dave Coles, President of the Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union said
“in a free and democratic society, people have the right to peacefully protest
    something they don't like.”
We trust as the Minister for Public Security you will uphold your responsibility to
show accountability and maintain public trust.
    Sincerely,
    Libby Davies Peter Julian

Hopefully the “fire-in the-belly” has been ignited by the exposure of the common act(s) of the state and its attitude towards the citizens.

To rural and his statement, “I had always taken allegations of police (political) agitators stirring thing up in these situations as so much rhetoric. I stand corrected!”
    Its about time Bro!
One needn’t be whacked in the head by a provocateurs rock to realise the common actions of the state have been occurring and will likely continue to do so.

To Doc C. In my opinion the three in question, rightly , should be identified as Enemies of the People along with their commanding officers.

To a free mans life, Good work BRAVO!

To the readership at large, This item has now being featured on a site that receives thousands of ‘hits’ daily, world wide.

The Quebec provincial police have given themselves, Canada and it’s police forces more than a black-eye they have exposed themselves for an aspect of police work that we all now can realise is far to common.

"I had always taken allegations of police (political) agitators stirring thing up in these situations as so much rhetoric. I stand corrected!"

Now start thinking about the main event that kicked this all off - 9/11.

We've been hosed by these scams long enough and it's high time to call it for what it is and to take back our liberties and our country. The *only* terrorists to be concerned about, are those who sit in government and employ secret agents to create fear and hysteria while occasionally committing real acts of terrorism against the people.

If we let ourselves be continuously fooled by this kind of deception, and to tolerate it after it has been exposed, then there'll never be any hope for a reversal. We have to smack these criminals with the hardest and biggest hand that we have - they are minuscule peas compared to the power we alone have given them.

If this goes to court...video tapes do exist.

There was an eye on hydro/lamp post on the north side of the 148 between the
snack bar in front of the train station and the Crevier gas station. My testimony
would be collaborated by that video feed.

Golly...everybody's testimony can be collaborated by several video feeds along
    the perimeter fence!

    Those tapes must not disappear!
