Opposition leader Lorne Calvert said Wall simply won't be able to find an additional an $800 million a year for Saskatchewan in existing federal programs unless he gets a separate side deal from Prime Minister Stephen Harper.
"Surely he (Wall) wouldn't try and pretend that this infrastructure money -- money that every other province is entitled to -- makes up for the $800 million a year that was promised," Calvert said in a news release Wednesday. Calvert also demanded to know why the new Sask. Party government hasn't even signed on to the new federal $33-billion, seven-year Building Canada framework agreement.
Returning Wednesday from a meeting in Calgary with oil company executives, Wall said Harper reconfirmed last week that Ottawa has no interest in a separate Saskatchewan accord to fulfill the Conservatives' equalization promise made during the 2006 federal election campaign.
