The Truth Is Out There, Mr. Harper

Posted on Wednesday, May 04 at 22:05 by kentgreen
The majority of Canadians do NOT want an election now. Does Mr. Harper want what is best for Canada and to get to the truth, or are he and the Conservatives simply opportunists like vultures hovering for a kill? Are they scared that the Gomery Commission will not find corruption within Mr. Martin’s caucus, thereby reducing the likelihood of becoming an elected Conservative government? Mr. Harper doesn’t care what we want. If he did he would let us learn the truth and work with Mr. Martin to get to it. The Conservative Camp is thinking, “Hey, Canadians are angry, we might actually get elected!” It is not what Canadians want and deserve. It is self-serving Conservative opportunistic politics. How does one make a decision in life? Is it safe to make an emotional decision or one based on anger? Would you buy a house based on emotion because you like the colour or because you hate your current house? Would you buy a house without getting the facts? Without getting a physical inspection? No, of course not. So why would we do this with our great country? To make a fair and informed decision, one must have the facts to make an unbiased, unemotional decision. Mr. Harper seems determined to undermine our right to get the facts, to make an unemotional, informed decision on who is better to run our country. Do you actually think Mr. Harper will let the truth out by allowing the Gomery Commission to complete its mandate? I don’t think so; it might prove Mr. Martin was right. What do we want? It’s not about Liberals and Conservatives or NDP. At least Mr. Layton is willing to help Canada by working to get a new budget passed. That is an unemotional decision and putting Canada first. Not opportunistic politics. Let’s say Mr. Harper forces an election and let’s say that enough Canadians are forced to vote for Conservatives because they don’t have all the facts. Although we in the west do not appreciate having our interests hijacked by more separatist politics over Quebec, who in Quebec is going to vote Conservative? Nobody. They will vote BLOC! Do we want to have another Parliament where the BLOC is the official opposition, and once again taking the ground the west has gained away and back on Quebec? We cannot allow Mr. Harper to succeed at his agenda of jumping into an unnecessary election at this time. If an election is called, we must vote Liberal to prevent the Conservatives and BLOC from certain political mayhem. There is only one party that can speak for all Canadians – Liberal. The truth is out there, Mr. Harper; why not wait and let us find it? It is the right thing to do for all Canadians--not just for your Conservatives. Vote Liberal? I would never vote for a party that has sold out so much of Canada. I will be voting NDP. It doesn't matter to me what the polls say of the NDP. They are the only people who will get Canada out of these stupid NAFTA agreements and remind us why Canada is a great country.

I would like the whole truth, before an election, otherwise we are in the same mess we are today, electing people who may or may not be involved in this scandal. What is the rush? What has changed since the election, other than the constant attacks, really no new info has come out, yet?

Well said, Kent Green! Great rebuttal to the antics of the
    Conservatives.

Before anybody considers voting for Harper's C.P.C., do please
read up on "The Man Behind Stephen Harper" and then decide if
you really want to see a George W. Bush style of government in
    Ottawa.

I doubt the NDP would either.

This article should have also been edited for a sane sense of logic and basis in reality. Must have been written by a Southern Ontario voter.

Bs. I think its pretty sad that in this country, people are worried about which parts of the government are charged with criminality. The simple fact that our government is under criminal investigation is enough for me to discern whether they are fit to be in office.

Furthermore, we dont even know when or if gomery will file a report. One side of the liberal party (chretien) is trying to have Gomery removed. Also, doesn't anyone remember how long it took the tainted blood scandal to report? It was supposed to be one year, but legal ranglings kept it from reporting for 5 years. What's not to say that this wont happen again?

To say that Mr. Layton is helping our country is absolutely stupid. Thanks to Jack, we just spend 4.5 billion dollars to avoid an election, rather then spending 300 million to have one. Regardless of that argument, the only reason we are spending 300 million dollars is because of Liberal corruption.

Its truly sad that blockhead Canadians need to have someone like gomery, who by the way doesnt have legal authority to charge anyone nor actually name names in his report, tell them whether or not the government wont be held accountable by the investigation that they themselves commissioned.

Harper's goals are simple. He wants to be in control of the government when Gomery issues his report, so he can have as much influence on the outcome of said report as possible.

I agree with your reasoning that we shouldn't cast our votes in anger for the Conservatives, and secondly, that we would almost assuredly face a Bloc Opposition in that were to be the case. I believe that that is exactly the case.

However, your incredible suggestion that the Liberal Party could somehow squeeze out of this mess, and come out as being "clean," just blows me away. That's really the issue isn't it? Even if just a small part of what is being revealed is true, that makes the Liberals(someof them) guilty of fraud.

So, how could you vote for the Liberals?

I woke up before the last election and voted NDP. And I'm going to do that again.

I'd rather see the NDP in opposition that the Bloc, wouldn't you?

    Right on.

Instead of the completely corrupt, banana republic style currently enjoyed by Canada?

    Alberta annon

I would like a election to be held after the Gomery inquiery ,
but will vote for anyone but Harpie and the Corporate Scum that are his puppeteers , no matter which side of the border they are on ! Scum is Scum !

We Need a New Party that is for Canadians .

If anyone in here thinks the Liberals are corrupt , just wait and see what the Conservatives will do to this country ! I've lived through Mulrooney , Harris , Klein , Manning ! And that so called Liberal drunk in BC ! They all have just filled thier own pockets and thier buddies !Not a scare tactic . Just cold hard facts !

Well it isn't that new, formed in 1997, and actually the ideas are not new, they are just tried, tested and work, but then destroyed to reinvent the corporate wheel. If you are seriously looking for hope, look at Canadian Action Party, and read there policies, they do in fact make sense. They are so simple, but the current and past government have tried to make sure everything is so complicated, so we can't question what they are doing. The truth is out there, but we are going to have to educate ourselves, the school system didn't teach it, our politicians don't want us to know it, but once we do, we will really have power. Knowlege is power and everyone knows that!

I was also looking for truth, and a group of dedicated people to stand for this country, protect our soveriegnty and our pocket book, and I found it in CAP. I believe in it so completely, that as posted on another link, I have agreed to run as a Candidate in the next federal election.

Harper's lust for power is positively obscene! Hopefully people will see that and not vote for the traitorous SOB. He knows that this is probably the only chance the Neocon Party will have of gaining power since under normal circumstances 80% of Canadians reject his authoritarian right, Bush-sucking politics.
