Media/I.D.A. Vision of Montreal remains the sole exclusive buyer for government ads and received about 3 per cent - or $17,000 - from $576,000 in ads placed by the government since Martin's swearing-in.

...The company is still under contract to place ads in newspapers, on TV and on radio for the federal government. But that could change within months because the feds have launched a tendering process to find a new ad-buyer...

This is the kind of arrogance I am tired of, they won\'t answer questions and they continue business \'as usual\'. I am tired of politicians believing they do not have to really answer to the people, they just spin us through the media and then hope we go away. Well, I hope we don\'t go away and that we really demand truth this time...transparency in government, no more secrets from any of them!!!

The only part of this that makes me angrier is that while we are watching this \'play\', they are still marching on with the census and the BMD programs, ignoring our voices...I\'m sure I\'ve mentioned this before, but it is really annoying.

Why does the government need 'communications' firms? I'm pretty sure there is Government of Canada media relations department <a href='http://www.communication.gc.ca/about_sujet/aboutus.html'>somewhere</a> (4.1 seconds to find it, including typing in www.google.ca). Shouldn't they contact the media to purchase airtime? Don't the people of Canada *own* the friggen CBC?<p> Perhaps I should hire farmers to do my shopping for me instead of going to the grocery store.<p> From their own friggen website: <blockquote>Our mandate is to improve communications between the Government of Canada and citizens. In order to do this we:<p> * Conduct public opinion surveys to find out what's on the minds of Canadians, what information they want and how they want to receive it.<br> * Develop and deliver communications programs and marketing and advertising campaigns.<br> * Work with other government departments to help them with their communications plans.<br><p></blockquote> <p>---<br>"History does not repeat itself, but it does rhyme" Mark Twain <br />"The greatest price of not participating in politics is being governed by your inferiors." I agree Dr.Caleb, that is the whole point of the Canadian people supporting the CBC, so we can get the news and reports from gov, we don\'t need to pay for it twice; also this brings me back to Klein in Alberta, he does it every year, broadcasts on a private network, which we pay for, and then we never get to hear from the other side....it keeps the masses uninformed and serves their purpose but it isn\'t serving me. I like to hear both sides of a decision, and I don\'t like paying for something twice!!

    Flat Cath,

I hope you don\'t mind me calling you that because forever more that is what I\'ve been calling you behind your back. (and I haven\'t even seen your breasts)

Anyway, talk about marching on business as usual pissing you off. Today I happened to catch Question period and then whatever they have on after that. The NDP, BLOC and a few Liberals (no Concervatives) were stating their reasons for not approving the MDProgram and they were all very convincing. BUT THEN, David warPRATTmonger stood up and said the NDP were spreading fear with myths and their ads. He said \"Canada is not a pacifist country\" and went on to site the thousands of graves to prove that. I was yelling, (well screaming really, the cats ran outside), at my TV the way I do when Bush shows up. Low-level intelligence type words. I still have to email him asking him what gives him the right to act on anything when he\'s been appointed to his position by a PM that we never voted in? THAT MAKES ME FURIOUS. Here he is negotiating with the U.S. on MDP as though that is the most important thing for him to do before they DON\'T get elected. He has an evil agenda. I first saw him on Counterspin. The panel was discussing Iraq and the war. warPRATTmonger was defending Bush as though he were Bush. At the time he was the Liberal Party leader. It was right then and there that I decided I would never be voting Liberal again. If I let him Paul Martin could get to me and even deceive me into thinking he\'s not so bad AND THEN I THINK OF i\'manalbertanfirstMCLELLAN AND warPRATTmonger and I know he\'s bad.

Talk about myths too. I also need to know because he backed Bushes illegal war, the one with the mythical weapons, and the mythical intellegence if he is going to be sending our soldiers to wars justified with the same kind of mythical information?

First of all 4Canada, what are you trying to do, I almost peed myself first paragraph, then you get all serious...sure Flat Cath is a reference to a previous comment which is fine, and you are probably always talking behind my back, cause you can\'t see my face....the serious issue of the BMD program, also peeves me, as they won\'t listen, they keep saying well we just want to be in on the talks! THEY ARE DEAF, REALLY DEAF, AND THEN THEY GO ON FOR ABOUT 15 TIMES , \'WE HAVE NOTHING TO HIDE\' we are not deaf, they are...they don\'t get it. I don\'t think it\'s a language problem though, just a comprehension problem, maybe a little \'rydalin\' or whatever that drug is for ADD , we could probably get a discount from Rumsfelt if we buy it in bulk!!!

I've gotta agree with you there C sharp. :) He should take ethier the cheapest time, or time on all networks. But to be fair, that is one of the perks of having the big chair, he gets to speak to the people directly. Others have to get their sound bites on the news.<p> <p>---<br>"History does not repeat itself, but it does rhyme" Mark Twain <br />"The greatest price of not participating in politics is being governed by your inferiors." OK, try this.

How about NO POLITICAL parties or candidates can buy air time ??

The networks give equal time to all politicians. They are re-imbursed by the government, which is us.

That would stop people like Martin from raising money from all his friends, including corporations.

That would certainly level the playing field.

Look at Bush ALMIGHTY, he has already raised over $120 million dollars so far. He isn\'t finished by any means.

Keep the corporations out, and let the politicians fight their battles on an even basis.

Otherwise, the person with the most MONEY has the MOST INFLUENCE because THEY CAN AFFORD IT !!

That is not my idea of democracy.

If I\'m wrong about the definitiuon of democracy, then I will shut up and never comment again.

    (Fat chance !!)
