This is designed to convince us of the need to walk on eggshells when he gets here, keep protesters out of sight and perhaps whisk outspoken Liberal MP Carolyn Parrish to an undisclosed location outside the capital. http://www.thestar.com/NASApp/cs/ContentServer?pagename=thestar/Layout/Article_Type1&c=Article&cid=1100299808475&call_pageid=970599109774&col=Columnist1022182710415

We have everything the US needs : Us foreign policy - either sell it to us for next to nothing or we'll take it !
Of course we already gave it to them -NAFTA.

That is the arguement always trotted out by the Conservative crowd.

They ignore reality. That reality being they need us more than we need them. All the northern states have their trade so intertwined with Canada they would also come to a screeching halt if they 'close the border'. Now add in the growing amount of energy we ship them, and it is rather clear, we have the upper hand, not the Americans, or the conservative cheer squad in Canada.

Go ahead and protest. Let them whine and cry and act ashamed. If they had their way we would be in Iraq alongside the 'coalition' of the bribed. Canadians have spoken loud and clear - the majority of Canadians want nothing to do with the Bush government, their wars or their way of doing things. We have no reason to hold anything back. We are a sovereign nation, and as such can do and say whatever we want. There are no 'free speach zones' in Canada yet.

    ---
If there was ever a time for Canadians to become pushy - now is the time - for time is running out on this nation called Canada.
