A Man Is Tortured, And The U. S. Shrugs?

As described by Canadian Press reporter Jim Brown, Mr. Wilkins "seemed puzzled" when asked if his government had regrets about the Arar affair. "You talking about regrets by the United States? The United States made that decision [to deport Arar] based on the facts it had, in the best interests of the people of the United States, and we stand behind it." He said that the United States has to make "tough decisions," that the war on terror means "you don't get second chances," that there would probably be more deportations and that Canadians who hold dual citizenship should consider themselves forewarned they could find themselves in Mr. Arar's shoes some day. http://www.commondreams.org/views05/0920-22.htm

    >He said that the United States has to make "tough decisions," that the war on terror means "you don't get second chances," < It's to bad that human life and misery is not in the factor. We can crawl through a sewer and not come out smelling like a rose, but in the USA they figure that is how a Rose is born. They'll do anything to make their country more powerfull. Even if they have to be a sewer rat. To them that is the rose. If Americans want to die for their country and sacrifice absolutely everything just to say it's their countries will, then do so. Expecting anyone else to do so, is typical of their conception. 2nd chances? They aren't even allowing a first.

'Didn't most of you champions of human rights on this board just shrug while Sadam was filling up his mass graves?' Did We? How do you know? Did we know that Saddam was filling up mass graves? Did you? After all who put Saddam in power? Not us that is for certain, but how could we tell your government want to do, when you can't? The best we can hope for is that you will take your government to task for its deeds and we will do the same!

We must ensure that our civil rights are not further eroded just so our leaders(?) can play with the big boys, sit at their little table and make plans for world domination.
