Eminem Vs. The President

Posted on Sunday, October 31 at 20:36 by Captain Flynn

(I've written a critique of rapper Eminem's new anti-Bush, anti-Iraq War video Mosh that I hope other people might find helpful. Included are links to the video and its lyrics.)

Look in his eyes, its all lies
The Stars and Stripes, they've been swiped
-- Eminem, Mosh

I said I wasn't going to write anything on the election, but then I saw Eminem's video for Mosh. This video would not be out of place on the bookshelf beside Common Sense in revolutionary America. The critique is so penetrating and so searing, people will be watching Mosh for a long time to come.

I am not a fan of Eminem, but quite honestly it is a good video and a good song, and I am a fan of it. It's nice to see a 'star' looking back at their fame and thinking "Yes! I can make a difference now." Maybe it has a lot to do with Eminem's background of poverty and abuse.

Although it seems a lot of other artists from the hip-hop genre could learn a thing or two from artisits like Eminem, KRS-one, Dead Prez, & Warsawpack etc!

Now if Eminem can wrap his head around being a little less homophobic, and violent, we're in business.

As I just debated over the phone with my significant other, can we believe what he is saying or is it just about attention for an upcoming album? I would just like to say that regardless it is a good message with straight forward lyrics and I commend the talent at GNN.com for coming up with the concept!

Eminem is now and always has been a parody of the rest of the rap world/music industry. It's just too subtle for most of his fans and enemies. This isn't the first of his songs to say such things.

You cannot even compare Enimnem to Common Sense. Get over yourself. That's rediculous. Common Sense is on a whole other level. Eminem is merely saying what everyone else is already saying. What we're saying. And we say it far better.

I like how the song goes. It is a good song but that does not mean I am going to go out and buy the album.
Besides, as Eminem says we should look at the battles we have to face on our own soil. Damm straight!
We are so busy looking south that we do not even realy bother trying to fix was is going in the the northern part of north america...hello...
But yes, good song, great lyrics. basically says what everyone has been saying.
