Long-Time Tory Jumps Ship

"I don't find the Conservative Party either progressive socially or conservative economically and those were always the two key points I've held on to through the years as a Progressive Conservative," Easton said on his front lawn, where he had just knocked in a Liberal campaign sign for the first time in 30 years.

He says that it's not that big a stretch because his father was a liberal, I also think it isn't a stretch because the policy is very similar, they'll just take a little different path to the U.S. whereas Harper is going direct with Klein in tow.

    Exactly,

It doesn't bode well for the Liberals, in my mind, to have all these Conservative types feeling more at home in the Liberal party than the Con party. However the jumping shipers did that once already when they pulled the plug on the PC party boat in the first place. I'm just waiting for the piece de resistance. Peter MacKay walking away holding his pointy little nose as though he's too good for what's left of the Cons. The more Cons that bail, the less they each can say they're WAY different than the other. Too funny.

Something really strange just occured to me, what if these guys are jumping ship now because they see the writing on the wall, then once they are elected they cross the floor...bingo they win even though they weren't elected as a con or lib which ever was the original on the ballot...suppose this could be happening? If so I would make sure and vote for one who really is clear on policy and get something in writing to use later if they start playing hide and seek on us.

Way too close to what I'm thinking. Said so somewhere else here tonight. There's a plan. Who wins is irrelevant.

    Hi

If people were following the news after the Merger this would be no surprise. The Conservatives are now panicking
because what some us ex PCer's said is now coming through. The merger did not bring as many PCers over that they though would move. Thus now during the election campaign we see Stephen "the Soft Hearted" vice Stephen " the Horrible". He is trying to attract more of the PC vote and is having a terrible time doing it.

All of the people that you say are jumping ship are the ones who had signed a petition to try and stop or slow down the speed at which the merger was taking place. Thus why you have the Progressive Canadian Party and even within the PC party you have inter party organizations that have formed to protect and encourage the use of PC principles. So don't believe everything you hear, things are not rosy in the Conservative Camp.
