What Is NAU And Why Should You Care?

Posted on Saturday, January 13 at 20:47 by whelan costen
There is a difference between telling it like it is and being an alarmist. The North American Union (NAU) is not an abstract supposition or fictional ‘what if’. It is destroying us and our values by stealth. Every citizen from every country needs to be informed of the facts. Although the mainstream media is not reporting this threat, (with the exception of Lou Dobbs on CNN) there is plenty of factual data available for those who seek it. Canadian Action Party website has dedicated a great deal of research and writing to this situation. There are so many trade deals and changes to our laws that the disclosure required a three part document (30 pages to compress the extensive research I did), written by CAP Leader Connie Fogal. It is called, ‘THE METAMORPHOSIS AND THE SABOTAGE OF CANADA BY OUR OWN GOVERNMENT’. It is reported in the news that Jack Layton has his man on it (referring to MP Peter Julienne); however is it enough? CBC declares it isn’t happening and for many people denial is easier than taking a stand. The question for Canadians, Americans and Mexicans is, ‘how much do we want our own nation; our right to live in peace; our fundamental right to freedom and real living democracy?’ There was a time in every one of these countries that the people wanted those things desperately. They did not want to live as an oppressed people. "...for many people denial is easier than taking a stand."<<

That about sums up what is happening. If more people took an interest, the NAU would meet resistance. The information is there but few wanting to read it. No reporter will bother making an issue of it, if he has no audience. Connie Fogal talked about it before and with little reaction. Layton has "a man on it" but where are the reports? Why isn't Jack addressing it to the public? One may ask when & how it's going to be real, not IF it may be real. Lou Dobbs on CNN is the only one reporting it amongst all the resources available. Even a protest march would be miniscule because so few are aware and even less care. Amongst the three countries, who's citizens will be the first to react and when? Before or after?

The threat to Canada is certainly real. And it certainly needs to be
brought out into the open, in understandable layman's terms.

I believe that the basis of a democratic society is a free press. I believe
that the corporate media won't explain, won't preserve, won't protect the
    Canada we know and love.

Media convergence has crept quietly into the power position, where it
can effortlessly trash the free-thinkers and promote corporate plans.
God knows, we see it happening on every side of us in British Columbia,
with unhappily privatized BC Rail, BC Hydro, BC Ferries ... all quietly
    done.

Most of us noticed the outrageous attacks on a former B.C. premier in
Friday's media. Why? Because he spoke on behalf of the public interest,
demanding action from BC Ferries Inc. (now behind the locked doors of a
private corporation) -- he demanded a safety report on the sinking of
the Queen of the North. What was wrong with that? Nothing. The
CanWest story said he was absolutely correct in his demand.

So why the attack? Because his name is Glen Clark and about 10 years
ago, he was the NDP guy who beat Gordon Campbell in a provincial
election. Thump, thump, thump! If it be comical, if it weren't so tragic.

In layman's terms, CanWest's loutish, back-alley attack was part of the
power-agenda, which says "Never vote NDP again, you hear?! Vote
    corporate power!"

And so the corporate news service we have, hurts even the concept of a
democracy, as it tirelessly bashes one legitimate, honourable party, and
unfailingly promotes the party of the corporate power structure.

Bad as it is, there's further danger ahead as the ruthless CanWest media
empire swallows up the treasured Canadian company Alliance Atlantis
with the help of the U.S. giant Goldman Sachs.

The handwriting is on the wall, plain to see. Goldman Sachs will soon
vacuum up CanWest and Atlantis Alliance.

Then the Canadian media won't simply be as it is now: Canadian-in-
name-only, acting as handmaiden to corporate globalism. It will be a
U.S. corporation utterly heedless of Canadians and our rights, our
values, our history and our future. It will be NAFTA in spades. Manifest
    Destiny fulfilled.

It means that the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation is more important
to our sovereignty than ever. But CBC, too, is under neocon attack.
Support it while you can. Support the alternate news services like Vive le
    Canada on the Internet.

Speak out ... write ... talk and make clear the threat we're facing.

Bravo, Brava to all who speak up for Canada in these worrisome times!

Why Thank you,Mary! is that the olive branch?
Say? What are you doing next saturady night?
    Lets lend truth to rumour

The threat to Canada is certainly real. And it certainly needs to be
brought out into the open, in understandable layman's terms. <<

Good point made. There has to be a way people are made to understand. No one reads an entire page of a newspaper and infact few read beyond the headline. Vive Le Canada is a minor voice and one has to think beyond one blog on the internet. People are fickle, looking for what they can gain at the moment. The introduction of the NAU should be headlines but will only be, once in place. I don't concur that the media was fulfilling their role previously. The media feeds the public what they are interested in. Facts and figures are only included if they are interesting. The NAFTA agreement was also held behind closed doors but no reaction from the public, once in place. My fellow Canadians do care about Canada but commonly wait for others to do a job. Only when things are amiss, do they react and usualy demand others fix the problem.

So what can be done? We have people who are destroying the country, people who don't seem to care, people who don't want to hear it and those frustrated over the complacency. We have one party (CAP) who have reacted, another who seems to acknowledge the NAU but says very little (NDP). Neither are in a position to make a very large bang. We do have a place in Ottawa where a lion's roar can be heard and yet not even a whimper. It is there where the echo should be heard. No matter what is being discussed, every feasible opportunity, the NAU should be brought up. The Green Party & NDP should be united with CAP on this issue. Even a word at the opportune time will be eventualy heard. When the budget came up, it would be time to ask if it will coincide with the plans for NAU. One could ask if the plans for the NAU envolved the wheat Board. At every opportunity, questions about the NAU should be on record. So far not one MP has confronted Harper directly. No one has brought it up in Parliment. That is the place where everyone is to be heard.

So, as <i><u>Rick Mercer</u></i> points out, with the US having a $21,000,000,000,000 (that's <b>trillion</b>, folks!) dollar unfunded liability, and a dollar that does nothing but devalue, tell me again why we should have a common currency..........?<p>---<br>"When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change." <br />

"tell me again why we should have a common currency..........?"

    Easy.

So when the collapse DOES come, the ruling classes can declare martial law, take absolute power, extinguish democratic rights and freedoms, revalue the currency and turn North America into one gigantic banana republic.
