Canada, U.S. Sign Softwood Deal

Posted on Wednesday, September 13 at 08:16 by Wraun
  • The U.S. cannot launch new trade actions. Restrictions on Canadian exports will kick in if prices fall too far.
  • Neutral trade arbitrators will settle disputes.
  • Yet on the National, Peter Mansbridge said that just over 1 billion dollars would be left in the U.S. to help communities that have been affected by the dispute. I could not believe my ears. I am from British Columbia and lost a good job when that original 27% duty was imposed illegally on Canadian producers. Meanwhile mills were shutting down throughout the province, mills in "single employer towns", yet there was no mention of communities in Canada.

Tell that to the 30,000 or so who have forever lost their jobs, the salaries of which helped support small towns all over Canada.<p>---<br>"Son, if you wanna get ahead in this world, never work for another man as long as you live."

This so-called "agreement" is a slap in the face to all Canadians.

The US stole billions form Canada. Under the "agreement" the US returns ALL of the stolen loot, but the Canadian gov hands back 20% of the returned stolen loot, it then will fine any business that refuses to sign on for "compensation", and absolves the USG from any further legal action.

But guess what can be sued for damages??? You guessed it, the Canadian gov, which means YOU AND ME! HA HA HA HA

Harper's regime falls well within the definition of filthy traitor, but what else could we expect when it got only about 23% of the eligible vote - it never was elected to represent us in the first place.

Harper and his gang of bastards have shafted Canada yet again.

You can bet his pockets will be well lined for his treachery.

No kidding we've been screwed. Another real kick in the pants was not mentioned in the print article but Peter Mansbridge said, of the "about 1 Billion Dollars" that was kept by the US, it would be held in the US to help communities that have been affected by the dispute!!!! What about communities like Fruitvale, BC where Atco Lumber closed its lumber mill or Vavenby, BC where a major Weyerhueser Mill closed its doors. Those are only two of many mills that closed in BC and I'm sure there were many more in Quebec, Ontario, etc.
Neither can I believe that the Bloc would back this sell out, do they think they'll get and keep sovereignty once Canada is a colony? Not likely!
Wasn't it the Conservatives under Mulroney that negotiated the deal where instead of the US cleaning up the environmental disaster along the dew line, they would pay the Canadian Gov't 500 Million Dollars but we had to spend it on arms bought from the US? Same type of deal eh? We have everything on our side and our prime minister is more concerned with how far up the ass of the president he can physically get his nose than he is about his own country to which he's been elected to preside over.
      Yes I'm ticked!
