Well I Just finished watching the new conservative party debate with the three potential leaders. I must say, I really can't say any of them would be true tories. The only one that seemed to lean a little to the center was Tony Clement. I don't know too much about him. Anyone here know much about Tony?
As for Harper, he does a good job at speaking. Although I don't like how far right he is, and how much I think he is leaning towards adopting the U.S system. I personally think he will win to be the leader of that party. Scary isn't it?
As for Belinda. She did a really poor job in the debate, which is good :-)
You know, I'm only 24 years old and no post secondary education, and even I could have had a really good debate with her and probably stumped her on many issues.
Belinda was saying that more wealth, stronger economy would mean better social spending. (not that exact wording). I would have asked her how she can justify that statement as being true, when you have the U.S one of the wealthiest in the world who has one of the worst social spending amongst all OECD countries. Considering these neo-conservatives are so keen on adopting the U.S model, how can they justify that our social programs will not be forgotten when its clear that they have been forgotten in the U.S.
I think what she is forgetting to tell us is she would be adopting the same Milton Friedman model as the U.S. where the gap between wealthy and poor grows. Survival of the fittest is what I think these neo-cons are all about.
On another issue that I could have debated with Belinda was the idea that lower taxes would help Canada to be more competitive. Does she not know that there is a European country that has grown quicker per year in GDP then the U.S, even though this country actually had a tax higher then Canada's. Some of these European countries have also managed to attract foreign investments even though their taxes are high.
The U.S depends on the public to create private programs to help with social issues. Some of the social issues like Poverty the public can't even deal with cause it has become so overwhelming. In Canada this is already starting to happen as well, just like in the U.S. Allot of caused by Mulroney and Chrétien.
In Canada we attract more foreign take overs then actual foreign investments. So this is where many of our current politicians brainwash Canadians when they talk about FTA/NAFTA. They don't help people understand the difference and how foreign investments and foreign take overs are different, when once makes jobs leave and the other gives benefits back to Canada. One allows money to flow out of Canada without paying taxes by having high management fees, and the other keeps money in Canada and every tax dollar spent in Canada.
Someone better come to the rescue, cause either the Liberals or the New Conservatives will win this next election (according to the polls). I'm getting very scared as to what will happen with either a full term with Harper or Martin. Its really scary.
How can David Orchard be so quite during these times? I would think that he would have had all the chances in the world to get in front of the media cause he is the only real voice around to speak like a true tories. Why not speak when there is so many NDP members, CPC members, Liberal members who still believe in the true tories.

I was just going to say that Paul Martin and David Pratt are already doing damage to Canada and they haven\'t even been elected yet! It\'s amazing how many damaging changes a government can do in one term. I should know, B.C.ers are expert witnesses of that fact. And, look at the U. S. one term Bush damage! God help them (and us) if he gets in again.
