I have just had the privilege of watching the video ‘A Passion for Canada’ featuring a real Canadian legend, a hero for our time. A quiet Canadian, who received few accolades or applause though he trudged along to fight for the Canadian dream. His name is Paul Hellyer - The Hon. Paul Hellyer, Deputy Prime Minister of Canada in the Trudeau government, and founder of CAP in 1997. No, it isn’t a ‘shock and awe’ kind of video, nor a sci-fi or action film. Although I saw no evidence of blood or men leaping over buildings, or stopping bullets with their bare hands, what I heard and felt was somehow more gripping. Mr.Hellyer is now in his eighties and still holds onto the dream, to a feeling in the pit of his being for what Canada could be, with a little bit of effort and the will to breathe life into those dreams of days gone by.
Sure it sounds romantic and optimistic and maybe even dreamy! I ask you why not? If we are to live in a world as citizens of it, then we ought to expand our minds to incorporate dreams. If you listen to the words of this video, as he takes us back to Toronto with an old shack building for an airport terminal, or landscape without the 401 running through it, you cannot help but realize someone dreamt it before it became reality! There are many great Canadians who are now living in the age of wisdom, they have worked tirelessly to be heard, they cried out for the public to hear their warnings, ‘the dream is vanishing’ and we refused to hear. Canada’s Native peoples have a great tradition of honouring and respecting the wisdom of their elders. We could learn a lot from those traditions.
Some people are suggesting it is too late to save our country Canada, the once proud nation, hardly even past infancy, yet still a threat on the world stage. We were a threat to the status quo, we were a threat to a world of violence, we were hope for the future, and we still have much to do, if we don’t give up on the dream. John Riddell, has produced many videos, under the production name, ‘thedreamofcanada.ca’ and introduced me, or further informed me, about some great Canadians like, Paul Hellyer, Connie Fogal, Mel Hurtig and William Krehm. He has attempted to enlighten people on the origins of Canada’s Debt, the very real solutions to overcome it, and made me realize that the only one that can kill a dream is the dreamer. If we don’t give up on the dream, it will become a reality.
Mr. Mel Hurtig and vivelecanada.ca are featured on one of the videos, called ‘Canada: Yes or No’; and Mr. Hurtig quoted several prominent Canadians who declare, ‘it is already too late for Canada.’ Perhaps I am an eternal optimistic, because I vehemently disagree! Certainly there has been much damage; to our military because of under-funding; our social systems, again because of under-funding and poor management. Of course it seems impossible to ever get out from under over $500 billion in national debt, created by some of our new age economists. The truth is stranger than fiction, in this case and if we played out Canada’s real history in a full length feature film, it would surely be of the ‘horror, or thriller’ genre. Yet, if we learn anything from history, we know that people, and only people, can take back their country!
No politician can do it without the will of the masses, and so I urge all people of Canada to recognize that the dream is not dead; that it only lingers in the fog of sleep; but that once it is re-awakened, we will know no limits, and the dream of today will be the reality of future generations. They will look back on history, if it is told with truth, and see the determination of several generations of Canadians. From our Confederation of 1867 we have endured and suffered through many destructive forces that threatened Canada’s ability to realize our full potential, but we have also seen many great inventions, ideals realized and incorporated as we overcame the hurdles! I urge you to order these videos,(get a couple of copies if you can, you’ll want to share them) and once you understand what has happened to this country, the solutions are clear. We can do it, we need to be enlightened to proceed. When I was a schoolgirl they used to say there was no such thing as ‘can’t,’ and even declared that 'if it was a word, it would be in the dictionary.' In those days, it was not in the dictionary, but it is today. Regardless of the status of the word, the concept is the same - 'can’t' is another word for 'won’t.' People can overcome that negative ideology if they chose to! Canada does not have to become a colony so long as we stand for her, so long as we make the promise each time we sing our anthem! Call me a dreamer, and the idea nothing but a dream, if you like. I’d rather work towards the dream than contribute towards the nightmare that some have intended for us.

Know who my current hero is? Hugo Chavez, President of Venezuela. He has freed his country from the despotic grip of America, resisted constant subversion from corporate media, survived and bounced back from a CIA coup that re-installed dictatorship for three days. Even a media/CIA sponsored recall failed miserably with Jimmy Carter personally heading up the witch hunt. He is currently thumbing his nose and Bush and taking a large number of South American Countries with him.
Chavez has not jailed his opposers, the media is left to continue its propaganda against him. This is a truly democratic President.
Chavez has rejected both Communism AND American style fascism - he is spreading democracy and social justice in the spirit of the US founding fathers. For that, the USA brands him a communist dictator - even John Kerry, supposed "social justice" champion, looks at Chavez's initiatives that are finally feeding the destitute and educating the poor, and calls him a bad man?
Chavez, he ain't perfect, he ain't pretty, but he also ain't an economic royalist who believes the rich should inherit the earth and everything in it.

You lack BOTH intellectuals and "black" people in any real quantity. But you DO have the communists!<br />
<br />
For example the black population of America just "aboot" exceeds the ENTIRE population of CanaDuh.<br />
<br />
In addition to that tidbit, the Hispanic population in America DOES exceed the total population of CanaDuh.<br />
<br />
We have people like Condolezza Rice and Colin Powell, as but just two (2) very notable examples among MANY, MANY, MANY black Americans who are BOTH intellectual, AND respected and admired by their fellow citizens, and in fact respected and admired throughout the world.<br />
<br />
Canada has...ummm...Carolyn Parrish? (the ORIGINAL Canadian Mad Cow) Montreal, Quebec born/raised Jackal Layton? I could go on and on "aboot" a lot of things, but I won't waste more keystrokes than necessary...<br />
<br />
Go visit some information/news sites OUTSIDE of <a href="http://www.vivelewehateanyandalllivingthingswhich">www.vivelewehateanyandalllivingthingswhich</a> arenotcommunistnaziorislamicfundamentalistterrorists.ca and your Communist Broadcasting Corruperation...<br />
<br />
There's a WORLD out there just BEGGING to be discovered by "enlightened", "progressive" Canadians, "eh"...<br />
<br />
Done, now (for today at least). No point debating much of anything with a "died in it's wool" member of Soviet Canuckistan's flock of sheeple. Brainwashed people have to be left to somehow accidentally trip over, and fall on the truth themselves to actually recognize it (if they do even then). <br />
<br />
Are you <a href="http://www.vivelewehatetruth.ca">www.vivelewehatetruth.ca</a> people worth it? Meh...<br />
<br />
Go see "vive's" greatly *respected and admired*, *Fast Eddie* if you want to speak to an anti-semetic "bigoted fascist", "eh"...those old "roots" show every here and again...Canada is a wonderful haven, "eh"?

If a party came along with democratic reforms I'd jump on board. That includes Citizen's Initiatives, MORE referendums, however, it's interesting to note that even the parties that claim to want to 'fix' Canada have their own clear ideas on that, and so far it has never involved more democracy, just them doing what they think SHOULD be done.
For idealism I don't share the thrust of such arguments. To me a social worker next door who works their life taking care of people is far more valuable than any politician. That's why academics aren't respected, ironic since that other self absorbed group-entertainers and athletes, are up there in the 'idealized' category as well.
To me those ideals show exactly what separates us. When I see a national railroad I see thousands of chinese and irish slaves who were forced to build it, the horrible corruption that came out of the financing of it, the crooked industrialists and politicians who got rich from it, and then the freight rates that brought cheap raw materials from Canada's 'hinterland' to Ontario and Quebec and sent back more expensive final products. Hardly I vision that lulls me to sleep.
In contrast, I see a far better ideal much closer to the present and that was the Trans Canada Trail. What better example of 'canada' could there be. Eventually, government was forced to give some funds to it, but refused to purchase any land for it. Millions of canadians took part in creating the trail and paying for it. It's imperfection is in fact a testament to canadians overcoming the ineptitude of their government. So in many places the trail is quite convoluted, in fact in many places the 'trail' is actually a highway or road. These are just average canadians whose name is printed in bricks at many of the pavillions and many more whose names aren't.
I just listened to a documentary that probably few people have heard about three canadians who virtually single handedly brought the genocide in East Timor out in the open. Most canadians still have no idea have closely their country is aligned with this dictatorship which has perpetrated genocide on a level not seen since the holocaust. Of course, this is yet another convenient 'myth' of Canada, that we are somehow nicer than americans.
The Avro was simply a military weapon designed by canadian engineers, so what? What do military weapons do? Why would I be proud of that? I don't take pride in other people's accomplishments. Politically of course, there are literally millions of canadians working to improve or preserve canada, people we'll never hear of.
Ideals are not 'big' things. They are small things that eventually become big when others see that they are right. There's a reason veganism is the fastest growing lifestyle which has every existed, and surpasses the growth rate of ALL religions. This isn't a call for it, I don't care what you do, but that fact in itself says far more about society than anything else. Fifty years ago there was no environmental movement, no solidarity movements, the feminist movement had just got the vote but that didn't get them into the workplace. Canada was going to Korea for reasons as suspicious as those now in Iraq but noboby blinked an eye.
Today it is far different. With the internet there are eyes and ears everywhere. Protests break out in all kinds of ways. From the limited information groups are finding better ways to govern, but of course our 'democratic facade' keep them from having too much of an effect.
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for a country called Canada, I'd prefer to see it remade politically.Most of those myths referred to are nothing short of imperial dreams to westerners and maritimers. The Avro certainly wasn't built in St. John. I do agree though that there needs to be a movement that creates a federal canada that is so inclusive that everybody WANTS to be part of it. HOW that will occur is the big question-and if.
<br />
Homosexuals are everywhere, even in America. Even in your vaunted Idols France, and Cuba. Not big news anymore, and nobody really cares either, other than to reign them in a bit when they attempt to steal or take away something from others as they are sometimes prone to doing. No big deal. Realatively insignificant stuff actually in the schem of things. I realize however that homosexuality IS a big thing in Canada and is part of your national identity. That's okay. To each their own so long as it's not forced on the other, "eh"?<br />
<br />
I have tolerance for those homosexuals I know and most of the time they show tolerance for me as well. There is much LESS "homophobia" in America than "enlightened", "progressive" Canadians even have a clue "aboot" (eh). But because of your relative isolation from the rest of the world you wouldn't know. We get along and coexist quite well so long as one group doesn't try to infinge upon the other groups rights. That's a good thing in my belief system.<br />
<br />
The point is there ABOUNDS a pronounced HETEROPHOBIA among the commie clan of The Hate White North.<br />
<br />
There exists no fear among the vast majority of my people, of homosexuals practicing their sexual "craft" upon one another as consenting adults with the same restricions as heterosexuals, "withoot" forcing their craft upon those who are unwilling to be a part of it (eh). And NOT forcing it upon minor children (those under 18 - we know you Canadians REALLY seem to like the kiddies and it's okay for YOUR moral/values/legal system if they are as young as 14 in Canuckistan).<br />
<br />
We (heterosexuals)have yet to be parading in their faces, and defiling their cultures and traditions as they have done to us. We continue to demonstrate as is the norm for us, our larger degree of respect for OTHERS rights as long as they aren't attempting to take ours from us. Equality is the democratic way. It is not our way to steal from one group to give to another. Our way is to extend the same rights and priveleges to EVERY group.<br />
<br />
Phobias are for Canadians to whine "aboot" (eh). You have them in abundance.<br />
<br />
RE: Canada's homosexual marriages. Congatulations (eh). You don't see hordes of Americans (especially conservative Americans) filling the streets of America chanting, busting things up, threatening people, getting violent, and in general having spasms all over the place upon hearing the news (we hardly even noticed let alone cared). Woo Hoo, good for you. <br />
<br />
But typically if we do pass a law, or even the wind changes direction in America, or something similar, people just like your NDP/CAP/Liberal set fill the streets and burn flags. Who is phobic again?<br />
<br />
When you seek to take something AWAY from someone else who has had it for a long time and has hurt no one, because YOU personally don't have one, don't understand them, don't want one, or are afraid of them out of inexperience/ignorance/lack of education (such as personal firearms for example) YOUR phobias literally EXPLODE!!! Straight into HYPERDRIVE!!! In true commie fashion you fear you won't be able to control the masses if they have the ablitity to defend themselves from you...so to maintain that corrupt, corporate, communist death grip on the flock of sheeple, those personal firearms must be TAKEN AWAY from everyone (everyone else bu YOU that is - in TRUE communist fashion). A government that abuses and fears it's people doesn't want then to be armed. A government made up OF the people, FOR the people, BY the people which doesn't steal from and ABUSE the people has absolutely NOTHING to fear from them having the means to defend themselves. Very telling which societies in the world tolerate civilian firearm ownership and which do not. Eh? In your communist government the people do not have rights. Your government seeks to take away their means of self defense against their government's oppression. A communist government ALWAYS pretends to "know what's best" for the people no matter what the people say "aboot" it them selves. Witness the mosquito spraying with deadly chemicals being forced on communities, and on PRIVATE land AGAINST the people's will even in the face of the medical community speaking "oot" against it. This is in the heartland of NDP/CAP control (communist). So you can see how much the rights of the individual are respected (eh)...<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.cbc.ca/story/canada/national/2005/07/20/Winnipeg-fogging-050720.html">http://www.cbc.ca/story/canada/national/2005/07/20/Winnipeg-fogging-050720.html</a><br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.cbc.ca/story/canada/national/2005/07/25/Winnipeg-fogging-050725.html">http://www.cbc.ca/story/canada/national/2005/07/25/Winnipeg-fogging-050725.html</a><br />
<br />
Phobia "aboot" deviant sexuality? Hardly. As long as my children (or any children anywhere) are not molested by ANYONE of ANY "sexual identity group", I don't care!<br />
<br />
So here's my take. I, like most Americans and other freedom loving peoples, oppose someone taking advantage of/the rights away from/disrespectibg the rights of others.<br />
<br />
So if you Canadians want to have intercourse with "options" for your amusement, to prevent boredom, and to establish a "sense of Canadian national identity" like homosexuality, beastiality, whatever, fill yer booties. BUT... if that person ISN'T over 18 and consenting, and that beast isn't communicating with you in a manner that we can understand to express it's consent for you to have intercourse with it, and if it's not adult, (and consenting) then I DO object. I know that enrages you Canadians...the concept that others have rights too, but that's how I feel. Deal with it.<br />
<br />
Because I feel ALL living things have rights. Maybe you'll have sex with and marry a baby seal after you skin it in front of it's mommy next...or have a harem of them (polygamy?) who knows? Just thought I'd fill ya in on MY stance since you DID ask (eh). I'm against certain things, yes, but don't give a rat's a** "aboot" whether or not a Canuck wants to marry 'ol Betsy from the pasture "oot" back, (eh). I'm just a boring, "uptight", "old fashioned" heterosexual, American lover of freedom, equal rights for all, democracy, REAL "tolerance", REAL "progression", and REAL "enlightenment", and HONESTY. Yes, I know. YOUR ANTI-CHRIST!!!<br />
<br />
You never seem to see "conservatives" filling the streets terrorizing people, committing acts of vandalism, property destruction, and violence, "eh"...sometimes LETHAL violence. Odd, isn't it? WHY??? Those are the VERY people that *your* camp labels as "red-neck, conservative, neanderthall, pro-war, dangerous, oppressive, yadayadayada...adnaseum..."eh"? <br />
<br />
Just stop and think for a moment.<br />
<br />
Just who IS it that is always filling the screen on your TV set doing these kinds of things, "eh"? The SO-CALLED *peace activists*. Mother of ALL jokes! "tolerant" yeah. "peaceful" you betcha. "enlightened" like a mushroom...Liberals, communists, and the BIG LIE...<br />
<br />
Phobias are the domain of the Liberal and the Communist sets who rule out of creating fear, loathing, and hatred and spreading misinformation. False Propaganda. YOUR specialty.<br />
<br />
Responsible people (such as the majority of conservatives) in control of their emotions, and who can control their physical person as well...those who are NOT (like Liberal/Communists) pushed past the edge of insanity by fear, loathing, and hatred pushing Liberal/Communist state propaganda (like yours and the CBC as well)...well...those *conservative/rational* people do NOT "demonstrate" violently.<br />
<br />
Typically they do not demonstrate at all.<br />
<br />
They will debate, lobby, or democratically vote.<br />
<br />
Hateful, uncontrolled, violence and destruction (like a child's temper tantrum)is the realm of the Liberal/Communist/Islamic Fundamentalist/Nazi styled flocks of sheared sheeple. Sheeple who have had their conscience, caring, compassion, morals, values, and compassion for other living things brainwashed completely "oot" of them (eh).<br />
<br />
The only "phobias" I see around here are YOUR phobias...phobias of heterosexuals, phobias of ancient traditions like heterosexual marriage, phobias of the people living in America, phobias, of non-communist Hispanics and Asians (like Mexicans, el Salvadorans, and the Japanese), phobias of Free World peoples like those of Britain, Australia, New Zealand (but a few among MANY others), Phobias of anyone "ootside" of France/Canada and their communist friends, phobias of those who aren't members of your idolized Islamic Fundamentalist Terrorist alliances, phobias of Christianity, phobias of Judaism, phobias of peaceful Islam, phobias of ANY form of religion, phobias of traditions/cultures, phobias of diversity and tolerance, phobias of the fall of communism, phobias, that the world "ootside" of Canuckistan might get along and enjoy peace if you are prevented fom interfering in their affairs as you have, and of course...your phobias that Americans and Canadians might actually LIKE one another and get along in peace and friendship in the future is your BIGGEST phobia, my phobic friend!!!<br />
<br />
As far as "endorsing the current Liberal party", your Jackal Layton sold you to them. You have been bought and paid for. Just as Beluga Stronach's riding was.<br />
<br />
You are STILL not "for" anything at all...still living in the camp of what you are "against" (conservatives/Americans/etcetera)...thanks for being so obsessed with us. Guess we are that *important* after all, "eh"? I't not exactly like we wanted to be...or even cared...whatever. You have to have SOMETHING to do for a hobby, "eh"...your nose hairs are still tickling me though....kind of annoying sometimes, "eh"...
