Canada Supports Israel: PM

Posted on Saturday, October 21 at 10:10 by rearguard
"When it comes to dealing with a war between Israel and a terrorist organization, this country and this government cannot and will never be neutral," Harper said in a speech that drew several standing ovations from the more than 1,000 members of the Jewish human rights group. "This position is rooted in what we have long stood for as a country."

"Those who seek to destroy the Jews, who seek to destroy Israel, will ... ultimately seek to destroy us all. It is why Canada's new government has reacted with speed and spoken with clarity on the recent events in the Middle East."

Here we go with the New Government thing again.

Btw, does Harper know that what precipitated the Hezbollah capture of the Isreali soldiers was the fact that they were actually across the border in Lebanon, not in Israel as widely proclaimed.

It seems Harper is doing everything in his power to alienate most Canadians. His views on foreign affairs are so out of step with how most of us feel that he is pretty much ensuring the Conservatives fading off into oblivion. Which is a good thing.

It would appear he is trying to avoid getting elected again but it's "who" he trying to impress and get re-elected that worries me. As per tradition, Canadians have little say as to whom gets elected. The electorial process was not designed to abet the voter.

    boflaade,

I keep wondering if Ignatieff is a Republican mole and I am beginning to think that Harper is a staunch apocalypse supporter because of his disregard for the environment. With each iceberg that goes floating down south these evangelicals, like McVety, must be as euphoric as any mind-altered drug addict. I have never understood why some people are only satisfied or happy when they take many people out with them on their delusional suicide missions for I cannot find a difference between Harper, Bush and Olmert's mission from that of a suicide bomber except that they have the power to kill many rather than a few.

I am also changing my mind about people living in Canada holding dual citizenship. When people in Canada are putting the best interests of another country ahead of ours I do not accept that. If people are living in Canada that are putting Israel ahead of Canada then I just want to remind them that Israel has been asking them to return home for years and I wish our government would see to it that they do. I resent them lobbying my government, using my tax dollars to further their interests over ours.

4Canada, that was another good post from you.

"I keep wondering if Ignatieff is a Republican mole"

If not, then he may as well be. Harper does not give a shit if his "new" government loses next election especially since it never actually won the last one. It got less that 1/4 of the eligible votes.

Ignatieff as the leader of the Liberals will make certain that should the Cons "lose" the next farcical election, then another fanatical neocon will assume power. Ignatieff is just as pro Israel has Harper is, perhaps even more so, just look at his past writings on the subject. His latest spat with Harper over "war crimes" is just for show - making it appear as if there's opposition between the two parties on kissing Israel's ass.

If the people vote again for any of the major parties, we'll just be getting more of the same, perhaps worse.

It's interesting that now that the Greens are getting noticed, they're getting some attention from the habitual party hacks. I only hope the Greens stay clear of the bribes who'll promise them MSM assistance should they be taken in. I hold out little hope however, as it's just all too easy for any party to side up with the hacks in a bid to get elected.

Notice how the comments in the article attempt to equate all the Jewish people in the world as being the exact same thing as Israel!

"Those who seek to destroy the Jews, who seek to destroy Israel, will ... ultimately seek to destroy us all."

This is more of the same idiotic Zionist bullshit that directly harms the Jewish people. I really don't understand why the Jewish people don't rise up and kick these people down.

If there's anyone in here who is Jewish, I'd really like to discuss what's being done in the name of Jews, and why it's so bad for the Jewish people. I'd particularly like to know why the Jewish people don't seem to be making much of a fuss about it, rather thay appear to support it, or are just ignoring it. I don't know what to make out of it, but it truely is disgusting to watch day in and day out.

I never did believe in a system where a person was only part-citizen. Canadians should be willing to make their country a priority and not a crutch. It seems most pay little to gain more. If they plan on staying, then become a full fledged citizen and commit to Canada. If not, go back.

I keep wondering if Ignatieff is a Republican mole and I am beginning to think that Harper is a staunch apocalypse supporter because of his disregard for the environment.

I have to believe both points. No logic points otherwise. It is almost like both have the same mythical vision and striving to make it reality. Ignatieff has the history and to some extent, so does Harper. They plan on a Armageddon with Bush setting it up. Scary and real.

Who the hell died and made this guy king? Maybe Mr. Harper should speak for himself, not for Canadians, on certain matters. Funny how this clown pretends to speak for the entire nation when only one quarter (if that) of the population voted for him.

Considering his love affair with Israel and his hatred for Canada, he should go run for office over there. I am sure that is something most Canadians would truly support.

"This position is rooted in what we have long stood for as a country."

supporting occupying nations has never been in rooted in Canadian history, but if Mr Poodle says so it must be so.

"Harper said in a speech that drew several standing ovations from the more than 1,000 members of the Jewish human rights group."

Since when has the B'nai Brith ever been a human rights group?

There are a lot of humans in the world who are deprived of their rights, but the B'nai Brith never lifts a finger or tosses a penny in their favor, and in some cases contributes to their suffering.

Case in point, read the article above.

The editors of the National Post only know that "human rights" is something to be mentioned alongside the people who sign their pay cheques.

    Point #1
Our "New Government" is out of step with Canada's demographic make up...
The 2001 Census revealed that our Muslim population now exceeds 579,000. Meanwhile, the number of Jews totals about 340,000.

    Point #2
Decades of Israeli violations against human rights? - 5 1/2!
UN Resolutions critical of Israel since 2002 - 71
Canadian votes against Israel - 49
Canadian votes supporting Israel - 6
    Canadian abstentions - 16
Waking up the day after a federal election and seeing the conservatives reduced to 2 seats in the house (again) - priceless!
This is only for the past 5 years but clearly Canada does not have a history of standing behind human rights abuses by Israel.
Get that lying bastard out of the PMO!

I think it's despicable that Harper so freely throws Canada's support behind such a racist and terrorist state. Israel reasons that a Jewish life is so precious that hundreds of non-Jewish lives may be sacrificed to guarantee jewish safety. Only Jewish suffering really matters. How does this manifest itself? As of today, nine thousand palestinians have been seized & imprisoned by Israel without trial. Yet when Arab militants captured one Jewish soldier in Gaza & two within Lebanon, Israel's military fury exploded. We all watched the results on TV. For nearly a century, Zionists have covered their violent agenda with the claim that Israel wants peace, yet they are the aggressors, the true fathers of terrorism. When Menachem Begin was asked by journalist Russell Warren Howe if he considered himself the father of terrorism in the Mideast (regarding the Deir Yassin massacre being repeated against the Goyim worldwide), Begin replied, "No, in the entire whole world." Our Prime Minister supports this?? Goodbye Mr. Harper....it wasn't nice knowing you.

Hey, when I was a kid I owned a toy poodle.

They are smart dogs, and great for having when you go in the bush, whether it be for hunting or just a walk.

I will not stand for this affront to a fine, intelligent breed of dog.

If you must compare Harper to anything, choose something more appropriate.

Tapeworms come to mind. Ugly parasites that do nothing but consume the resources of the host body and contribute nothing in return, rather like PM Harper.
