Investigators are still trying to pinpoint the cause of the accident but say weather was not a factor.
"The roads were bare and dry at the time of the collision," Golden RCMP Cpl. John Gillen said.

About 18 months ago, Doyle and the mayors from Revelstoke and Kamloops travelled to Ottawa to plea for the twinning project. The fact the prime minister made the multibillion-dollar announcement in Golden is a good sign, Doyle said.
"This section of the highway is on their radar screen," he said.
Crashes on the stretch of highway are a constant and twinning is necessary, said Revelstoke Coun. Matt Singh.
"Maybe with this latest accident there will be a renewal in doing something about the highway," he said.
Singh, who grew up in Revelstoke, said his heart goes out to the people affected. One of his employees' husbands died in a crash along that stretch of highway several years ago.
"It needs to be four lanes; that's really the only solution for that highway." Singh said the highway is getting busier all the time and it simply was not designed to handle that kind of traffic.
"It deserves to be treated as a national corridor," he said.
