A small but intelligent policy proposal. And way above the noise between the Conservatives and the Liberals.

NDP seeks CPP loan to help retrofit buildings

"The New Democrats are proposing to tap up to $100 million from the Canada Pension Plan to show that going green wouldn't be economically painful. The money would create a pool of capital for homeowners and businesses to borrow from to retrofit older, less energy efficient buildings...."

I saw a similar article earlier today, and I thought that was a <b>fantastic</b> idea!<P> The CPP is one of the largest capital investors in Canada. A couple hundred million won't be missed among the billions, and I'm sure intrest will be charged. People can have a reserve of their own money to renovate or become more energy efficient!<p> Like I've said before, the NDP is the only one with any new ideas; and I say that as a disillusioned Reformer.<p><p>---<br>"History does not repeat itself, but it does rhyme" Mark Twain <br />

Yes I like the NDP's plans so far, I wish they would mention the threat to our sovereignty though; the other thing mentioned was the inheritance tax, the increase of taxes for the rich and none for the very poor; I love it, but the media sure doesn't!

Jack has to get a new speech writer though. He has somehow been given the slogan that the NDP will "not leave one Canadian behind", (or something like that), but enough like the Bush slogan "not leave one child behind" to make me cringe. Stop him!

Otherwise, I do sense his sincerity and his passion, and the policies seem workable.

Whelan, don't forget who owns most of the media.

Of course they don't like the NDP ideas, since they would have had to pay a little tax on their inheritance.

Don't worry about them, they can afford it.

They just like to hear the sound ot their own voice, which is simply vanity out of control.

I laugh when I hear people complaining about media ownership and WRT Canwest in particular. I've been watching Global National all week, and they've been digging the Liberals and CPC equally, and giving the NDP equal timeshare. They even had a segment on the Green party last night.<p> The only difference I see between Global and the CBC National now is that Lloyd Robertson doesn't get to make snarly remarks without rebuttal by the participants in news stories on Global.<p><p>---<br>"History does not repeat itself, but it does rhyme" Mark Twain <br />

Speaking of media. I have said it before and will say it again. Anytime there's a topic being discussed, a person attacking another person (exp: Harper attacking Jack) there should always be both people's voices. It should never be where you only have one person making their point.

Same goes for journalist who write articles. If they write an article and they happen to be attacking an idea or a person like Jack, Harper or Martin they should have another part where the other person can respond in the article.

Our media has too many people voicing their opinion and not enough people to defend themselves. Its allot better when reading any article when you can have both sides.

So Doc, you're saying that all of a sudden the Aspers are playing by the rules.

First time in a long time. I wonder if they hired a promoter to show them how to play fair ???
