McCallum Found Some Money For Military!

The savings are supposed to come from streamlining bureaucracy, cutting back on business travel, as well as other measures aimed at increasing efficiency within the Department of National Defence. McCallum says it will leave more money to spend on weapons and equipment for Canada's soldiers.

For now, McCallum isn't saying much about where he wants the money to go. There are suggestions the minister plans to speak to his cabinet colleagues as early as next week about buying new armoured vehicles to replace the army's Leopard tanks. "I know there is speculation out there about proposals before cabinet. I have not speculated about cabinet proposals. I am not about to begin such speculation," he said.

    You know McCallum should be able to sharpen his pencil after all his background is accounting not military. So although he may not know anything about what the military actually does or needs, if he can find them some money I\'m sure they\'d appreciate it. Perhaps some armored vehicles instead of shinny desks and nice plush offices for the brass? I\'m sure the unnecessary money spent on those government jets could have bought a few armored carriers!
