Abrogate NAFTA NOW - Press Release CAP

Posted on Thursday, August 18 at 02:11 by whelan costen
The deals have been one sided from the outset and our politicians entered into the agreements without the consent of the Canadian people, leaving the people to bear the burden and cost of those decisions. Canadian Action Party Leader Connie Fogal states, “CAP has been calling for the Abrogation of NAFTA for years, as it clearly hasn’t worked for Canadians. The United States has played us for a sucker, and we have responded like a child. The BSE issue nearly crippled our farming industry, while softwood lumber has been vindicated in court on numerous occasions, only to be ignored by the United States. Pork, blueberries, and potatoes have all seen similar unfair treatment. The only product that flows without barriers is our energy, and even that Alberta sells for less royalties than Alaska! It is all good to see the Premiers united on something Canadian, but the reality is many of them have performed their own handstands to ingratiate themselves with the U.S. administration, while sacrificing Canada in the process”. Ms Whelan Costen goes on to ask, “Is B.C.’s Premiere standing up for one of his citizen’s rights? What stand has he taken to prevent Marc Emery from being extradited to the U.S., to face a possible life imprisonment? How effective was Alberta’s Premiere in resolving the BSE issue? When he hosts Dick Cheney’s visit to the oil sands, will he express his dislike on the softwood dispute? When he visited the New York Stock Exchange and paraded horses and western dancers did he talk BSE or Softwood? When Prime Minister Martin met with President Bush in Texas, did he stand for Canada on trade or encourage more of the same? Talk is great if you are effective, but it would seem that we aren’t speaking the same language. It is time for Canadian politicians to stop worrying about their next appointment and retirement packages and start working for Canada’s best interests! It isn’t anti-American to stand up for your own country. It is called being pro-Canadian, and it is what they have sworn to do, now it is time to see some action!” -30- Contact: Canadian Action Party/ Parti Action Canadienne Leader, Constance (Connie) Fogal Telephone (604) 872 2128 home; Fax: (604) 872 1504 E-mail: conniefogal@telus.net Catherine Whelan Costen, Vice President and Candidate Email: cathpublish@wildroseinternet.ca Ph: 403-684-3514 or 403-660-0449 Fax: 403-684-3464 Head Office #385- 916 West Broadway, Vancouver B.C. Good call, Catherine. I agree, dump NAFTA and the WTO and the IMF and the FTA and the FTAA and the GATT should be reviewed as well.

I understand there is a provision within the NAFTA that allows a signatory country the option of nulling their agreement by giving a six month notice so there is hope. I too believe that Canada should get out of NAFTA and start repairing the damage to the country it has caused and arrest Mulroney and his ilk as traitors to the nation for handing over Canada's resources to the U.S. with the stroke of a pen. It is obvious the U.S. will only obey the law when it works to its favour so NAFTA apparently is of little benefit to Canada. Canada will never realize her true potential if we as Canadians allow this indiscriminate hand over of our economy and land over to foreign economies and peoples.

Having fought against the FTA in the mid '80s, I think NAFTA should never have happened and should have been abrogated years ago. Yes, there is a 6 months abrogation clause, but there are also almost insurmountable problems.

While neoclassical market economics pretend to teach and support rugged individualism and the benefits of so called "free enterprise", together with the whole theory, these claims are fraudulent. In reality, the purpose of the neocon/neoclassical theory is total dependence on the system, or rather on the ruling sector that controls the system and allocates survival rights to others through the monetary manipulation of the economy.

The difference between the forced collectivizations under Soviet state capitalism and neocon market capitalism is only in the methods used. The aims for control and enslavement are the same.

Contrary to claims, the main purpose of "free trade" and its effect of the ruination of thousands of small, localized industries and economic systems is not to "lower costs and make the economy more efficient", but to deprive people of any degree of self reliance and self sufficiency.

The destruction of the family farms, and generally the depopulation of rural communities and the forcing of people into stacked urbanization are the best examples. The purpose of the destruction of thousands of localized industries in the 3 NAFTA countries is the creation of incompetence, the loss of self reliance, self respect and the forced reliance on imported goods and services, making huge profits to the controllers of the system.

Now, if we abrogate NAFTA in 6 months, what will take its place ? Under the neoclassical theory of globalization, our and the whole world's industrial system has been turned into monocropping for exports, and became useless for logical, localized production to serve people.

With the abrogation of NAFTA and the collapse of this phoney export based system, millions of people would be out of work overnight, no industries to produce things, no people who know how to and the control of money creation still in the hands of the criminal sector that created this mess to begin with, on their way to world dictatorship and who still could and would do their best to keep people enslaved as "consumers".

Of course, many of us have anticipated the collapse of this fraudulent theory and have the practical experience to reorganize and rebuild economically and ecologically efficient and sustainable economic systems, but it would take years and a complete change in public thinking, away from the present propaganda induced dream world. Basically, it is the same problem and situation as the detoxing of drug addicts and alcoholics. An extremely difficult situation even when they're willing. But how do you detox people addicted to Wal-Mart, McDonalds and supermarkets filled with chemically laden junk foods that poison and hook people the same way as any drug ?

So, what's the next step ? I wish somebody could come up with the answer on how to change a corrupt system people are hooked to, without major disruptions, crime waves, destitution and gang warfare ? Ed Deak, Big Lake, BC.

wtf NAFTA really only formalised the relationship Canada has had with the US since the late 1800s. it wasn't just Mulroney who is responsible for the current situation, it was MacDonald also.

The politicians won't listen, they will sell this country down the toilet. The next step will be for Canadians to use violence to stop them. Violence you say, well it's either that or let Canada die. I couldn't live with myself if I didn't do anything. When this happens watch these traitors call on their southern masters to protect them, then you will truly see these bastards for who they are. Did they not sign an agreement to let in the U.S. Army in case of an emergency?? for whose benefit. only the politicians. Don't believe their lies.

    Something to think about:
The Liberals gave us overreaching anti-Terrorist legislation (Bill C 36) and they are in process of creating a law (Bill C7) that gives dictatorial powers to a number of Ministers who will have the capacity to shut down the country and declare martial law without any checks and balances, and without going to Parliament.

The Canadian government is already submitting Canada to USA military control. In August 2002, after the Canadian government declined to join NORTHCOM (U.S. Northern Command), it joined the U.S.- Canadian Binational Planning Group(BNG). Again the Liberal deception, pretending the rejection of a military takeover by declining NORTHCOM, but then participating in a planning group that prepares just exactly for that. An option on the table is a North American Defense Command that carries the full spectrum of responsibility for land, maritime , and civil forces, and possibly space.

This means the USA can deploy troops, special forces on Canadian territory, all in the context of collaboration. The Northern Command*s area of operations is the USA home front. Its charter includes the land , sea, and air approaches to the USA and encompasses the continental United States, Alaska, Canada, Mexico, and the surrounding waters out to approximately 500 nautical miles.

Our choices are becoming more limited everyday.
