Paul Martin, One-Term PM

Posted on Friday, January 02 at 21:25 by Jim Callaghan
That's the good news. So far, anyway. I just hope he keeps putting his foot in his mouth, and often. Perhaps he won't even win the next election! What a Boy !! Call him One-Term-Paul. That's my bet !!

    Links are useful, Jim.

I\'m thinking Paul should be the new Kim Campbell. Gets in and then elected out a few months later.

    Who\'s with me?

I`m with you there, Susan. I don`t even want to see Mr.Sweatship govern for one term! Alot of damage can be done in one term!

Here\'s an informal poll either on the Globe & Mail site or canada.com that asked how people would vote in 2004. The NDP & (neo)Conservatives were tied at 31% each & the Liberals were 3rd. (can\'t remember their %-age) I think maybe Martin\'s Liberals will get kicked in the next election; if the NDP becomes the government it\'ll be a minority & they\'ll get hit with a no-confidence vote within 6 months & I don\'t know what after that.

Truly I am hoping that he doesn\'t make it for one term, I think these months leading up to the election would be a good time to saturate the media with his prior accomplishments, so that Canadians really know who they are voting for if they choose Martin and co.

Sorry, I didn\'t read this anywhere, I saw it on CTV. Nothing to link to. I checked Global and the CBC and they didn\'t bother to cover this at all. Surprise, surprise !!

I hope you\'re right with the Kim Campbell comparison, that would wipe the smile off his face. Fast !

    Sorry, I didn\'t sign in again !! Shame !

I sent a message to CTV to see if they can direct me to the story, and if they can, I will post the link.

Next time I\'ll be a little wiser.

Remind me how a no-confidence vote works....

    I\'d prefer a no-term PM.

Somebody motions for a no-confidence vote & if a majority wins it\'s supposed to bring the government down. If NDP gets a minority govt then someone like Harper would motion for one then the NDP would get thrown out by Martin\'s Liberals & the American Party.

Susan that would be the best thing for Canada but unfortunately we don\'t always get what we want...

Paul has almost $11 million to wage his ongoing war on Canadians. He has support from all regions of Canada and here in BC the Liberals have far surpassed all the other parties in both fund raising and enrolling new members.

What we are more likely to see is a larger majority this time around if the NDP does not get its act together and quick!

    I finally found more info on this subject. Apparently, the Nova Scotia MP\'s are upset with Martin\'s obvious pay-off to his buddies;

I hope he chokes on it !!

I agree with you. We and the NDP have to get our acts together. The both parties have agreed to keep discussing the merger issue up and until 21 Jan 04. I suppose that the CAP can pass another amendment to extend the time. But I believe that it is time for all of the people interested in making this work to get on Jack Layton and other members of the NDP to get this thing done. Boy, I don\'t know why something which is so good for the country is so hard to get done. In the meamtime, we should also get moving on talking to other parties that are out their waiting for someone to talk to them about a possible amalgamation.

Well, if the NDP and CAP do not make this merger take place I believe that Paul Martin will be in power for at least another 10 years. This is crazy, what are people thinking. David Orchard will not go to the NDP until hell freezes over. He would go to a party that is progressive and on the conservative side. That would be the good thing about this new party you will be able to be progressive and Conservative and progressive and Left. This would be great because we would be able to meet that great divide in politics. Much in the same way as Tony Blair did in Great Britain. I do not agree with some of his far right policies but he did get two majority governments so he is doing something right. We need a big tent party not a big number of small tents this only splits the vote. We need a party which is fair to big, medium size and small businesses and to the workers who provide their labour to these businesses. We need to attract these people to a new party. We need to get on with organizing the poor on the streetes of Canada so they can become a part of the electoral process. We need to attract young people that want to be part but don\'t see themselves as part of this country. We still have a lot of work to do in order to win the next election but we are not even past stage one yet ie the merger of the parties. I have been trying to come up with a constitution for the new party as a sort of a straw man to get us at least a start. The policies of the NDP and CAP are good as far as they go but a number of policies that concern Canadians are missing. So we have to make up our minds now and determine if we want for form a government or official opposition or to we want to remain out in the wilderness pontificating what should be instead of what can be if we are part of the game. Regardless of what the parties think what the people think is more important than anything else. How many more times do the people of Canada have to tell their government that they want a good health care system? Its time to pull out the stops and start contacting people to get this party merger done. Lets start making more noise and doing more to get this thing done.

Ahaaa !! I found the original article. It\'s right here:

    http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/s ... 01633_28//

This is from CTV and I didn\'t see anyone else cover this, so there you go for the media.

With this kind of one-sided info, it\'s a crime to allow it to be controlled this way.

I even find in my own small town that the same people own the newspaper in Haliburton and Minden, so when I send a letter to the editor, I never know which paper will print it.

    I keep trying !!
