I loved that part in 'Sticks and Stones'. When confronted by the facts, O'Riley just couldn't deal with it. I wonder if he mentioned the reason he's pissed at them in his recent rants against the CBC. I notice too his facts are again innacurate.

The CBC's budget is indeed provided by the GoC, but the CBC collects ad revenues and pays the money back. Guess he forgot to mention that fact too. I'd almost consider subscribing to Fox just for the laughs. Now he thinks our government is out to get him :)

I guess it's because o'reilly is so factually challenged that he refused to come on camera for an interview and be exposed for the liar he is. I especially liked when he was exposed in an outright lie quoting a story from a nonexistent French magazine about how the French economy has supposedly been devasted by US economic retribution. I thought he was especially disgusting the way he treated the son of the man killed towers on 9/11.

Another factually challenged person on the show who was exposed for the intellectual fraud she is was Ann Coulter who thought that Canada fought with the US in Vietnam and then insisted that she was right even after Bob McKeown, a journalist (an actual journalist and not a wannabe so pretend to be journalist like Coulter) with 20+ years experience, pointed out three times that it wasn't the case. In the end, she said she would get back to him on it.

Perhaps we need some new position like a truth in news ombudsman for people to register complaints with and anyone consistently found wanting in the veracity of their facts should lose their broadcasting license. Fox news wouldn't last six months here then.

He also made himself look like an ill-informed idiot when he tried to threaten Canada with a trade war. When told that America depends on Canada as much as we depend on them, he just screamed no and found satisfaction in ignorance. What is truely troubling with the likes of O'Reilly and Coulter are the denziens of no-minds that believe everything they say. Even in the face of pure fact, they just keep lying. Those that support O'reilly et al, just don't seem to care about being lied to.

Laugh and mock all you want. These are our closest 'friends' in the world. And the Bill O'Reilly's and the Ann Coulter's are in charge down there.

    You scared yet?

Now, try this on for size. The majority of Americans LOVE it. They love O'Reilly, they love Coulter. They may not believe everything they say, but they enjoy them in the way you enjoy an extravagant friend. "Ha ha," friends laugh to each other. "That may be going a bit too far; but it's kind of true."

    Anybody for appeasement?

Every time you buy American, not only do you strengthen their economic position -- but you weaken Canada's. Every dollar counts twice: for and against. Disney, for instance, yes 'lovable' Disney, was one of the major campaign contributors to George W. Bush. Big American companies, the White House, and Bill O'Reilly are all one face. And they're coming to get you.

    Boo!

This O'Reilly is something else. I remember him talking about how they were also changing the name "French Fries" in protest against France. This is funny cause apparently France was offended that they were ever called French Fies. Since in France their actually called Frites.

I agree with the post about an ombudsmen for "news" programs. If you claim to be a real news program you should be held to a high level of scrutiny. Faux news, should of had it's license yanked (no pun) for impersonating a news channel. Bill O'reilly should move to a comedy channel. If Americans truly love this crap in numbers it's a dismal picture of their general IQ. I'm no political genius or remotely approximating, but it takes about five minutes of viewing to spot faux news anchors/commentaries. They have that air of junior high level maturity housed in adult bodies, dressed in mom and dads clothes trying to appear wise. Kinda like Jerry Springer and Ilk all wearing glasses and power suits trying in vain to impersonate intellectuals while interviewing that lowest common denominator, and putting on mock shock expressions when the fistfight breaks out.
What truly amazes me about Marsden, O'Reilly, and Coulter types is the sheer nastiness of these folsks, they are the epitome of the classic bully, they delight in it. Their sheeplike baaaing of there mindless right wing mantras, while shredding anyone who disagrees, reminds me of a pack of Pitbulls recently lobotomized. Scarry!!!

Canadians leftists are scared because instead of being able to intellectualize away the moral fabric of every issue or argument, they are being are being asked to explain themselves rationally - which has the result that no one is taking their opinions at face value anymore because their arguments are based on prejudice, not reason.

It's good that Canadians, especially the leftist sympathizers, are scared. Ultimately it will force them to re-evaluate their beliefs and finally start to believe in what is right and makes sense, or they will marginalize themselves even more and become less relevant to politics in the world.

Leftist beliefs based on prejudice not reason? Another comedian? Canadians have no fear of becomming irrelevant on the world stage, we leave that to the US. Bombing to crap out of civilians in another country to take over their resouces doesn't make you right or relevant, it makes you the neighborhood bully, a fact most other countries on the planet understand. So just who's country is an island, in terms of foreign policy? Canada will take the "pepsi" challenge on that issue anyday. Most of these Anti-Canadian sentiments are because you can't dumb us down or bomb us into submission. What to do? The US is becomming more isolationist by the day. Join the planet again, we welcome you back.

Marginalize ourselves from a nation that is incapable of rationally and reasonably dealing with the rest of the world? In Canada, we have the opportunity to be wrong and be seen as wrong. Our neighbours insist on being right and when that isn't effective using might.
There is no doubt that there is some leftist prejudice, antiAmerican prejudice, rightist prejudice in Canada but we hold ourselves to a higher standard of factuality and accountability than Pat O'Really and Fox. The defense, in this case, is " Saying it makes it so". "It's commonsense". "It's right".

Instead of attacking the "Leftist" mindset, why not deal with the issue: O'Reilly outed as compulsive Liar. Fact: He either routinely Lies or he doesn't, and clearly he does as documented by the Fifth Estate on "Sticks and Stones". The "no spin zone" is a fairy tale and Fox News has forfeited their self appointed title of "Fair and Balanced" by unleashing the likes of O'Reilly on an unsuspecting public. If he's the poster boy for any policial school of thought, that school has branded themselves as utter idiots. The Left didn't manufacture or subsidise the likes of Bill O'reilly, they merely point out that he is an idiot, a liar, and a bully.

    Anon,

The other anon's defending O'Rielly will not address the facts that they lie on that show. The truth is the people behind the O'Rielly show, and many of these right wing anon's here is they don't want to address facts. They will just continue with the "mere rhetoric".

Its just like no Anon has answered to the questions about Saudi's ties to 9/11. They also can't seem to answer the question as to why their government has ingored the Saudi's ties to 9/11. They went into Iraq with lies, and ignored facts of where the real ties lead.

Again every anon here, including some with usernames here who defend the Bush admin. Haven't answered any of these questions yet, and I've asked more then once.

They don't want to talk about facts.

They don't live in a fact-based world anymore. They live in a la la land where talking points equal facts.

You can't debate with them; they are not interested in debate. They have been taken over by the 'use of force' indoctrination. That’s why I call them useful idiots.

They will not, and seemingly cannot wrap themselves around the idea of challenging what you are told. They believe everything from BushCo, even though they have been caught lying dozens of times. Why that doesn't bother them, who knows, but when it comes to them pinning their failures on those that do speak out, just ignore it.

You see, I used to be one of them. I used to believe in the 'conservative values'. I used to vote for them. I used to cheer on war and destruction. Then I woke up and started reading and looking deeper at issues. That is when I realized I was being lied to or only shown part of the argument. They are experts at the con game. They really are. I admit my mistakes, and I now question EVERYTHING, no matter where it comes from - either left or right. But don't hold you breath for the useful idiots; they know not that they are being used.

That is why they watch and hang on every word from the likes of O'Reilly and the mouthpieces of the BushCo government. I was there, I know, so I hold some pity for the fools.

Yah questioning seems to be alien to the neo-cons.
