Posted on Tuesday, August 10 at 00:00 by sthompson
"CN Rail has initiated legal action against Seton Lake Band because of the stoppage of rail traffic on July 15th, 2004. They (CN) claim that Seton Lake band threatened, intimidated and trespassed on their (CNâS) land. The land has never been sold nor surrendered to anyone, and certainly not to CN Rail." Chief Garry John was commenting on documents served today. The Provincial Government has held the Rail revitalization agreement and the CN Rail ö BC Rail lease agreement behind closed doors, despite telling the public they would be released once they were finalized. "We have written the Premier and CN Rail asking them to meet with us and discuss this transaction, so far the Province has not responded, and CN has recently cancelled a scheduled meeting with us." Yeah, I'd like to see that agreement too.... There's a lot of 'secret' stuff from inside the BC government that I'd like to see...

The Federal government has legal sovereignty over all the land of Canada through conquest, occupation and the fact that the Federal government is always held responsible for the land by the people who live within Canada. It may be trendy to use a racist concept to create 'First' nations within Canada, but ultimately Canada will still be held responsible for sovereignty over the land by people within Canada and foreign entities.

So, if I come over to your house, and "conquer" it by storming in and kicking you in the stomach, I have sovereignty over your house?

Supreme court already ruled that gov't do have to settle claims with first nations. Whether or not 'first nations claims' is something we agree with, the Supreme Court has sided with them and unless I'm wrong, that says they do have those pesky 'ancestorial rights'. O'l Gordy can't drink that reality away, no matter how hard he tries. The one thing the provinical gov't did not have though, is the mandate to sell of crown assets that provide longterm finacing for infrastructure programs. - But don't worry about those thing like health or schools or taxes, just put up your blinders and buy some 2010 Olympics caps, shirts, etc...just forget about the rest!

You didn't Dr. Caleb, but your country did. Therefore, if you love your country, you must accept some responsiblity. First Nations are now your fellow citizens, and you don't just hang your fellow Canadians out to dry. If you feel this way, then why should you support Medicare? What happens to your neighbour is no skin off your back
