``Unless the government can find a way out of it, the vote will take place tomorrow night and we consider it one of confidence,'' said Geoff Norquay, a spokesman for the Conservative Party. Full story: http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=10000082&sid=atG6qVdcn0ZM&refer=canada

Sadly, Harper and Martin had to air our dirty laundry instead of honouring our war vets, over in Holland. They showed up a day late and a dollar short, and truly that is the most disrespectful act, I've seen in some time. It is a sad day when another country has been paying tribute for at least a week, with celebrations and parades to honour our fallen heroes, and the sacrifice they made for them and for us, while our politicians whine about their political uncertainty.

Harper made a point that they could have been their on Sunday as the House wasn't sitting, but I notice he did not take the initiative on his own, rather he was busy trying to find a way to get to the powerhouse. The war would have ended differently had our soldiers, said 'hey, my career is on the line, so sorry I can't give up my youth, my life and my freedom to go to some foreign land, and roll through the mud, freezing my butt off, and risking my limbs, for your freedom!' Sad day for Canada, if that is the best we can do.

Non-confidence is an understatement, but it isn't just in the Liberals.

Yea, I saw that pathetic interview from Holland too. If your trip there wasn't about politics Mr. Harper, then why was your pie hole still flapping for 10 minutes after you said it wasn't political?

Pretty sad when the vets don't show up to an unofficial ceremony that had to be invented just for the PM and the other people we supposedly chose to represent us, to justify the expense of sending them there.

Canadians are presented with a huge dilemma. We tried to elect a minority so politicians would have to compromise. That has not worked. Giving a majority to the Liberals, Conservatives would be a disaster: Martin is incompetent; Harper will do whatever he wants without taking into account the wishes of the electorate. Layton may have the best interests of Canadians at heart but he is unrealistic.

    Democracy has lost all value.

What has really struck me today is the Conservative and Bloc strategy of forcing a vote when Chuck Cadman is unable to attend because of his chemotherapy so they can win. This strategy is disgusting. It just shows how little respect they have for the system, the electorate, and how willing they are to manipulate the system for their own benefit.

Some more on this from today's news--the question is whether the vote will be enough, or whether the Liberals will be able to ignore it and delay an election call:
Opposition says it could topple the govenment Tuesday
Tues evening vote could defeat Liberals
---
Now call it extreme if you like, but I propose we hit it hard, and we hit it fast, with a major, and I mean major, leaflet campaign.--Rimmer, Red Dwarf
Harper is a corporate lobbyist and under orders by his big business bosses to prevent the the passing of the budget and the $4.5 billion, worked out by Martin and Layton, going to benefit Canadians. His owners need that money very badly so they can play the stock and money markets. The funny thing is that, while the Liberals gave away some $200. million to their friends and everybody's up in arms, screaming blue murder over the corruption. The Conservatives want to give away $4.5 billion, the BC Liberals gave away $2.billion in taxcuts to their friends in their first week in office, $8. billion in 4 years, stripping the province to pay for it, yet the majority still thinks it was a good deal. We'll see what they think next Wednesday. Hopefully, the BC voters will wake up and see how they're being stolen blind. Harper may succeed in bringing to government down, but he may also be cutting his own and his Party's throat in the process. Ed Deak, Big Lake, BC.
