Why Are CIA Flights Landing In Canada?

Posted on Friday, February 24 at 10:03 by Eleanor
One note, stamped secret, says 20 planes with alleged CIA ties have made 74 flights to Canada since the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. The note adds the Canada Border Services Agency, which compiled the figures, and Nav Canada, the civil aviation regulatory body, "have indicated that proper administrative and operational procedures were followed in relation to those flights." The Public Safety Department said in January a federal review of landings by the supposed CIA flights showed no evidence of "illegal activities." The explanations do not satisfy human rights group Amnesty International, which has been pressing the government on whether any of the flights involved the transfer of prisoners to countries where they may be tortured. http://www.canada.com/topics/news/national/story.html?id=44994bef-4467-44c6-bdec-6636dfdba477 [Proofreader's note: this article was edited for spelling and typos on February 24, 2006]

Stockwell Day -- our Minister of Public Safety -- should be asked
why the CIA is dropping in so frequently.

How far do you think Canada will go, when Harper want's better report with the Americans? So far the Canadian military is anticipated to hold hands with our neighbours down south, the border between the two countries is getting more restrictive and oh yes! we want to appease the Americans, so they'll continue buying our softwood at a discount rate and be penalized for doing it. Canada is not going to take anymore direct action over CIA flights then they will over softwood.

In the opening stages of WW2 the US violated its own laws, the Neutrality Act, to help Canada and its Allies. Even in those days isolationist was a description nobody wanted to have. Welcome to that sad place.
Now we are probably in the opening stages of World War 3 and this one looks unstoppable and inevitable. This time we get the choice of how far to go. I, for one, suspect we will try to hide behind international law and left-wing human rights groups and do as little as possible. We seem devoid of even the simpliest defensive traits. Where did they go? If such are ultimately used by al Qaeda terrorists how can we be so smug as to wonder how much we shouldn't do? The ones killing others because of religion differences are not going to give you that much of a chance. I guess run or die are the only choices we are boxing ourselves into.

Wars and crime are the ultimate economic competition for energy control. Religion is only used to mislead people into believing that they're fulfilling the demands of certain deities and prophets to kill others.

Wars are not between peoples, but ruling classes who force their own peoples to fight to fulfill their greed.

Democracy is supposed to end the power of ruling classes, but as we can see it now, it is being used to enhance their powers.

If nobody turned up when the trumpets call for war, there wouldn't be any.

Cut down the powers of special interest classes and there won't be anybody left to blow the trumpets, calling for war.

I disagree with John Tiller's statement that says: "In the opening
stages of WW2 the US violated its own laws, the Neutrality Act, to
help Canada and its Allies. Even in those days isolationist was a
description nobody wanted to have. Welcome to that sad place.
Now we are probably in the opening stages of World War 3 and
this one looks unstoppable and inevitable. This time we get the
choice of how far to go. I, for one, suspect we will try to hide behind
international law and left-wing human rights groups and do as little
    as possible."

It's a stretch to say that "the US violated its own laws ... to help
Canada" because no American wanted to be called
    "isolationist."

The fact is: most U.S. citizens clung fiercely to isolationism for over
2 years into WWII, keeping itself well clear of the battle zones. It
was their president, Franklin Roosevelt, who initiated some trade
deals which supplied Britain during that time.

Only the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbour (and incidentally,
Singapore, Hong Kong, etc.) caused a change in U.S. public
opinion. But even then, the U.S. didn't declare war. It was Hitler
who declared war on the U.S.A.

As for John's gratuitous comments about how "we" will try to hide
behind international law" -- is this a sign of "Deep Integration"
where U.S. opinions suddenly become the Canadian opinion?
"and left-wing human rights groups and do as little as possible" --
this is an ugly comment, beneath contempt.

You appear to be eager for war ... any war ... maybe vs. the
Communists? That's what WWIII was supposed to be, you know:
U.S.A. vs. the dreaded Reds. Or is it a war against the terrorists
living in our midst ... you, you, you ... and you.

Military history studies suggest that once the U.S.A. got a taste of
modern battle in WWII, they found themselves irresistibly attracted
to this new sport which includes so much trade, commerce, and
profit-taking. You should think about that, John, before you knock
    others.

But for starts, you're wrong about WWII, John ... the U.S.A. spent
more than two profitable years defiantly isolationist, even
preaching Hitler's line (Google Father Coglan), before deciding
that they could indeed become one of Canada's allies in WWII.

"Democracy is supposed to end the power of ruling classes, but as we can see it now, it is being used to enhance their powers."

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't democracy in ancient Athens mostly the preserve of the ruling classes?

Seems to me that if this is indeed the case, all the current elites are doing is following precident.

All ideologies are subject to being twisted around like pretzels and this is the reason I no longer believe in any of them.

The word "democracy" means "power of the people" or "power by the people". In the original form all the citizens of Athens were part of the legislative process and everybody had a chance, or even compulsion to take part in the assembly.

Of course, like all ideologies, this has been turned into "All pigs are equal, but some pigs are more equal than others". So, people like Socrates were executed, in his case by drinking hemlock, for "sedition". In other words, supporting democracy and free speech.

By the time the Romans conquered and enslaved Greece, democracy was the same corrupt mind and energy control we have in our times. Like I say: Democracies always self destruct, because people are too lazy to think and make decisions.

Not to mention the "wealth creating sectors", represented by people like Harper, who live off their willingness to make decisions on our behalf.

I have no doubts that every one of us who write "seditious" postings on these forums have been listed by some agencies.

An American recently wrote an article "Democracy in America - it's spelled C-O-R-R-U-P-T-I-O-N." It was published in Brasil. Food for thought. <br />

BC Mary has me confused with the some other John. A am not an arm chair warrior like she insinuates but I plead guilty to being an American. I got a letter from President Lyndon Johnson inviting me - no, insisting on my company in the fight against the Communists in 1967 Vietnam. I am still living in Canada and I still haven't changed my opinion about those Communists. They were better than those thugs the US fought for.
Mary dosen't mention some critical points like Hitler and Japan had a treaty which AUTOMATICALLY put Germany in a state of war with the US when the Japanese attacked. And she mistake the US for the Left, led by the Communists, who continually took Hitler's side and demonized the Allies until his sneak attack against Joe Stalin after Stalin had given Hitler all the assurances he needed to attack Poland, etc.
Is Canada lack of response caused by a lust for profits? That would fit Mary's argument about hidden motives. It would seem biased to judge Canada differently than everyone else.
It took a lot but the US finally realized that the fight against the NAZIs was their war. Baby steps were inadequate when giant steps were required. How long before Canada finally realizes that this war on terrorism is its war. I do not want terrorists to hyjack planes, religions, or international treaties and agreements. I do not want the religious fanatics to influence my life. They must stop strapping bombs to their children and murdering their neighbours. This is our world not theirs and I speak for innocent people everywhere. The next life can belong to all the insane religious fanatics.

started good, but turned to shit

Dude, the USA, and the Angolo-American estabishemnt has been in bed with the Arab aristocracy for quite some time.
Infact, they helped to create their current level of influence and power after the fallof the Ottoman Empire.

God forbid you investigate history with an open mind.

    Who gains from "islamic terror?
    islamic terrorists?
Or the establishment that tries to control you through fear?
Who's approval ratings go up after a terror attack, or media blitz on Islamic Extremism?

    This is not rocket science.
