The Bleeding Obvious: We Do Not Need The Son Of Star Wars

Posted on Sunday, June 27 at 10:06 by 4Canada
We all thought that with the end of the Cold War that was as much ancient history as Ronald Reagan's Star Wars program to knock ICBMs out of the skies but, if you can believe it, it's on again. Not only is the Bush Administration pushing a son of Star Wars program, but we Australians believe in it so much, we're going to sign up for it. True! http://www.commondreams.org/views04/0624-09.htm

Pakistan, Russia, India, North Korea, France, Isreal, China - that's more than half a dozen countries that have Nuclear ICBM capabilities. It would be stupid and irresponsible if defences against these weapons were not developed. Some people are asking why there weren't steps taken to stop the 9/11 attacks before they happened, alleging that the government of the day was asleep at the switch, the same thing would happen five years from now if an ICBM landed on Seattle - people would be asking their government why they didn't do anything to protect them. It's bleeding obvious that a defence mechanism is needed.

Why not work to *disarm* those countries instead of spending uncounted billions on questionable defenses?
