Dr. Robert A. Pastor, a Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) task force Vice-Chair, is looking forward to the conquest of Canadian resources from oil to drinking water, and hydro power in Quebec, by U.S. Big Business interests linked to the U.S. Bush administration. Indeed, "All the while 'We the People' were largely 'left out of the loop' until CNN's Lou Dobbs exposed the CFR's plans," says Dr. Daneen G. Peterson. The goal of the sought "erasure" of Canada was formally announced by Mr. Pastor, who is the apparent chairperson of U.S. neo-conservatives efforts on North American Union (NAU). Indeed, Dr.. Pastor was actually recorded on video before U.S. Congressional related group, to be pursuing the "erasure" of Canada by 2010. Mr. Pastor envisions that with the "erasure" of Canada, along with the corresponding destruction of the U.S. and Mexico, a new "North America" will emerge, under the control of the "wise men" like himself, of a political-military-industrial complex.
Dr. Peterson further suggests, "Go to SPP.gov and see for yourself. Be sure to put on your propaganda filter before entering the website. Pay attention to how cleverly they clothe their treasonous acts with self-effacing, feel good words like "prosperity".' Be sure and ask yourself... 'prosperity' for WHOM? Definitely not those Americans [and Canadians] whose jobs and manufacturing has already disappeared? Be sure and ask yourself... 'security' for WHOM once they erase our borders and eliminate our sovereignty? Be sure and ask yourself... "partnership: with WHOM and by WHOM?" Thus far it is a partnership between Mr. Harper, Mr. Bush and a handful of political elites in Mexico, in collusion with businesses and the banking community. Neither with the American people, or Canadian and/or their duly elected representatives in the legislature.

Obviously these dreamers don't have any clue about the fact that any act like that would bring the FLQ back to life so fast their heads would spin.
Now consider that this revived FLQ would probably include every adult Francophone in the area, and you will be able to appreciate the US foolishness for what it is.

According to Tom, the SPP is just another step toward "prosperity".
Would anybody think that he might have been lying his teeth out ?
On the other hand, after Mulroney's 1988. 43 % "majority" ensuring the FTA, the then head of the PQ, Jacques Parizeau declared on Nov.27,'88, that the FTA will be the key to Quebec's independence.
Of course, he was an economist, living in a dream world.

Your generalization, as all others, is WRONG.
While Canadians at large have at least an inkling of what Quebeckers are whining about, alas, Quebeckers don't have a clue what said Canadians think.
H.F. Wolff
That the FLQ never had more than 50 members may be the case, however at the height of whatever power they had they still weren't dealing with anything near what the NAU crowd and their ilk have in mind for Quebec now.
Now tell me with a straight face that the citizens of la belle province are going to quietly accept the deliberate erasure of their culture.
True, I did exaggerate when I stated the size of the revived FLQ (or whatever organization will pick up their torch), but there is no way in hell that the people of a province where close to 1/2 of the population by some polls either support sovereignty or are sympathetic to it are just going to sit there and do nothing when they begin seeing even the rights they have now be eroded if not destroyed by the SPP and NAU.
If that's what the CFR types are hoping for, then they are in for a rude awakening.

As far the SPP and NAU discussed in the English media, no bloody way, as any knowledge would cause an uproar and that's the last thing they'd want.
Now, going back to the FLQ days, one of the bombers convicted was a Hungarian born, French Foreign Legion vet by the name of Francois Schirm. Any idea what happened to that jerk after he got out of jail ?
I use the word "jerk" to any coward who sets bombs, regardless of race, colour, or creed.

Regarding Canadians absorbing American culture;
suggest you read a book entitled 'Fire And Ice' by Michael Adams. Quite illuminating.

But I do understand from reading 'Fire And Ice' that there is a significant difference between Canadians and Americans (US citizens) which you may ignore at your peril. It also shows that the excessive exposure of Canadians to US 'culture' has not diminished the differences between Canadians and Americans, and how they see and interact with the world around them.
I seem to recall that during the pro and con debate on 'Free Trade' Quebeckers were vociferous supporters.
Therefore, if you believe that Canadians are any less patriotic than Quebeckers... So be it.
I'll take my chances with Canadians any day. They might not be great tub thumpers, but when the chips are down I'd just as soon rely on a bunch of Canadians with their quiet perserverence.
