"If we didn't have foreign-ownership restrictions on the banks, they'd all be gone." - RBC CEO Gord Nixon. How would you like it if Americans decided what industries the "Canadian" banks would support??

If Air Canada is in such a bad way why are foriegn investors interested in taking over it? I would rather see it go to a fire sale than see it go to foriegn investors. Screw those foriegn investors, we don't need them coming in to Canada and borrowing money from our banks to buy another Canadian corporation.

Without foreign ownership levels in place every new Canadian startup would be swallowed up as soon as it become half ass profitable. We would be left with no domestic industry owned by Canadians.

Oh what a wonderful country it would be! Its as if Canada already being the most foreign owned nation is not enough!
