Private Health Clinic Opens In Quebec

What are you proposing, Dave ?

Stay away from work for a week ? Don't buy ANYTHING for a week, food, gas, clothes, etc. ?

What can we do as citizens for this to make an impact ?

I'm all for it, and I'll go along with anything that we, as a group, see as a real opportunity to shout out our condemnation of present government policies.

I am pretty sure that a simple picket line infront of that clinic would do wonders for the cause.

Maybe it'd even get a headline on CTV for the other side. Plus it'd be nice to see someone actually picketting for something other than a pay raise.

....if your health care system is as good as I hear, this private clinic will surely go out of business in no time at all. What's everyone so afraid of? Isn't it just another case of "freedom of choice"? You do all believe in freedom of choice, don't you?

The health clinic will not go out of business because there are those with the cash to jump the queue.

They want it now because they have the cash and they are spoiled as hell.

NAFTA will come into play if we let our healthcare system let the private system in the door, so we have to be very careful here.

The American health corporations are just waiting to get their foot in the door to satisfy the potential 30 million patients in our country, and then turn it into a real mess like the US.

Read this book: "Critical Condition", an excellent book to not only tell you what's wrong with the US style of healthcare, but they actually show the process to make it a fair system, which it is not today !!! !!!

What`s everyone so afraid of anon? Well, I for one, cannot afford to pay a $100.00 fee for a 20 minute consultation! And it will get worse! Most of us would have to sell our house if we needed some kind of operation!! That`s what it will come to! Is that what we want? I say people before profits!!! Canadians stated what they wanted in the Romanow Report, and the federal and provincial governments IGNORED the report, and have once again FAILED to protect health care form privatization!!! This could start by picketing in front of the clinic, but I believe a national general strike is now necessary given that there are just som many issues facing us, like privatization of other essential services, or missile defense,and countless others! I would like to see, and i think we can do this, is just like Jim says, shut the country down! Get people to block major highways like the 401 or QEW or the Yellowhead, and the Trans-Canada. Stop the movement of goods. Everyone on this day, yank your money out (whatever you have) of say, TD-Canada Trust, the next day, Bank of Montreal, the next, Royal Bank. Boycott certain products. But the real weapon is not going to work for say, a couple days or even a week, and just shut the whole thing down! And the good thing is, this can be done non-violently. The more Canadians learn the issues, the more this thing can grow! I say let`s begin by spreading the word. I`ve already talked to some people and they say they`re in if this thing can grow to include millions of Canadians. Let`s show the world what we`re made of!

You`ll never eliminate greed, but the majority of us can`t afford private health care, no? So, it is up to us to make the government listen!!! They`ve been told what we want in the Romanow Report, but it doesn`t seem to matter! If we don`t fight this, then we don`t deserve to have a country called Canada! Are we going to just sit around and let it happen? If so, then for the first time in my life, I`ll be ashamed to be Canadian!

You are right. We don't deserve Canada if we don't stand up and protect it! We should all come together on this forum and start a plan to change this country using actions. First off, get rid of corrupt Liberals!
