CBC's Canadian Experience

One of the men on the show talking about the "Bluenose" was Silver Donald Cameron. Remember him? He's responsible for me finding Vive in the first place. His amazing letter to Paul Cellucci about Canada not goint to war with Iraq was on another website I frequent and Vive was linked to it, so I looked at the link. I'm glad I looked at Vive and I'm equally glad I looked at the "Canadian Experience". 4Canada

Of course I have to say thank you on behalf of everyone who slaves away for no pay behind the scenes at Vive. We appreciate it!

I\'ll have to check out Canadian Experience.

And I can\'t believe no one has mentioned Rick Mercer\'s new Monday Report yet! It\'s great!

I have no idea what you two are talking about. Sounds interesting though. Tell me more about Rick Mercer\'s Monday report.

Actually I did make reference to Rick Mercer\'s show, on another comment. It is an excellent, satire, much like \'This Hour has 22 Minutes\' but just Rick. Also it compares to \'The Daily Show\', but of course I am partial to Rick Mercer. It\'s on Monday nights, CBC! Great to watch after the weekly news is fresh, usual comparisons or take-offs from the news are frequent.

Canadian history is wonderful! It`s too bad that quite often it is not taught or shown on t.v. in it`s entirety. Even Canada, A People`s History didn`t want to talk about the Avro Arrow. (I just can`t let it go!)

Found it on the cbc website. Yep sounds interesting to watch. I only read the interview he had with chatpot asking questions about Belinda Stronach, and he had me laughing. His material always gets me laughing.

    Hello Dave,

I agree. I started watching \"Canada\'s A People History\", I\'m on volume 3 and still many to go. So far I can say that these documentaries of Canada are very interesting. I wish that this video would be shown in all schools today.

    Hi Kevin,

I\'m sorry if I was so vague. The Canadian Experience is the name of a new CBC series about Canada. The first one aired last night and it was called \"The Queen and the Skipper: The story of Bluenose. (It will air again on Feb.26 by the way-I highly recommend it) One of the men on the show is a man called Silver Donald Cameron and I remembered him from a letter Vive posted by him to Paul Cellucci. It was so moving I printed it and filed it as one of my own favorites.

The next Canadian Experience in the series is called \"Talking Canadian\". It explores the ways in which we speak English differently than other english speaking countries. The preview looked comical.

Dave, I used to work for a fellow that worked on the Avro Arrow, and when he was fired along with the rest of them, he opened a gas station, and I was an apprentice under him.

His wife told me one day that he never drank, until the Arrow was cancelled.

He died from alcohol abuse 5 years after the project was shut down.

I know how you feel, it was a turning point in our history.

Yeah, just look at what happened to Crawford Gordon. And many Avro workers committed suicide, because they felt so terrible at the very thought of what was being lost! Me, i`m only 34 years old, so I didn`t experience the tragedy first hand. But the first time i ever learned the story, I immiediately had two reactions: My own sadness and anger. This was the catalyst which made Canada totally reliant on the US. And my other reaction was immense pride, knowing that Canada and Canadians had yet designed and built something beyond compare. I still get sad over the Avro story, but I also use it as inspiration, a compliment to the fact that we Canadians can do ANYTHING if we just put our minds to it!
