How PM Cornered Opponents

Posted on Friday, May 19 at 19:50 by 4Canada
What matters more is that Prime Minister Stephen Harper cornered his opponents, cynically threatening an election over the second year of the two-year commitment, and they responded with a narrow partisan debate that intersected only intermittently with broad national interest.

Instead of encouraging careful public consideration of the pros and cons of a pivotal foreign policy, Harper forced a confrontation with 36 hours' notice, no in-depth briefings and fresh information spilling over Parliament Hill.

I'm not surprised that "some" Liberals supported what they had started because they thought they had to. Harper even shook Graham's hand. Layton felt the discussion/debate was rushed and not allowing enough thought. Obviously he (Layton) had to take a step back as he now knows the Liberals will not be counted on as taking part in a "majority" opposition. It's not like voters didn't have a say to begin with. Harper made us well aware that he has always supported the Americans and their habits. Harper is our Prime Minister.
