Now THAT'S Holding Those Responsible Accountable

Posted on Wednesday, July 11 at 09:20 by Diogenes
One antibiotic caused the deaths of at least 10 people. "The few corrupt officials of the SFDA are the shame of the whole system and their scandals have revealed some very serious problems," an agency spokeswoman, Yan Jiangying, said at a news conference held to highlight efforts to improve China's track record on food and drug safety. The world's biggest exporter is facing a global crisis of confidence as scandals grow over the quality of many of its goods. http://www.guardian.co.uk/china/story/0%2C%2C2122922%2C00.html

I had on these pages once made a comment first heard from a friend that we should allow those in government thre chances when they do harm, then execute them
China for all it's complications may very well have it right on the accountability front.

Those who betray the public trust must pay, as they do in China
    Do I have seconders?

I had a very similar reaction on this story. Although I am not for the death penalty, it seems quite clear that there is no fear in Canada of punishment amongst our public officials for wrongdoing. Medias also used to punish by bringing up the corruption to public opinion scrutiny, which they don't do anymore by focussing so much on fluff.
So the temptation by our public officials to bend over to pressure of special interest groups is huge.

    re: the death penalty
I am in less favour of the "grind' penalty that grinds good people into the ground and early graves

rust and fire + same process I've been told

The death penalty is way too harsh in this case. I don't agree with it for criminals in the US or here either, anyway.

What this makes me think about is the reality that China is in competition with the U.S. for our resources, and look what sort of society it is. All the more reason to shore up our foreign ownership laws and try to defend Canadian sovereignty from both the US AND China.

To those who think that the call for withdrawal from the European Union would preserve some ill-conceived sovereignty that Britain and other nations in the world feel is threatened solely by the EU ... then look at who manipulates the money markets, who lays down the conditions for borrowing from the World Bank and who meets annually to decide the future of the globe.”
“There are two Crowns operant in England, one being Queen Elizabeth II. Although extremely wealthy, the Queen functions largely in a ceremonial capacity and serves to deflect attention away from the other Crown, who issues her marching orders through their control of the English Parliament.

This other Crown is comprised of a committee of 12 banks headed by the Bank of England (House of Rothschild). They rule the world from the 677-acre, independent sovereign state know as The City of London, or simply ‘The City.’

The City is not a part of England, just as Washington is not a part of the USA. The City is referred to as the wealthiest square mile on earth and is presided over by a Lord Mayor who is appointed annually. When the Queen wishes to conduct business within the City, she is met by the Lord Mayor at Temple (Templar) Bar where she requests permission to enter this private, sovereign state. She then proceeds into the City walking several paces behind the Mayor. Her entourage may not be clothed in anything other than service uniforms.”
