Bush took questions from reporters on Tuesday, the first since the defeat of the government of Jose Maria Aznar in Spain. Aznar was a close U.S. ally who supported the invasion and occupation of Iraq.
The Basques will resume their killing now that they have learned the proper way to manipulate Spanish politics. Al-Qiada is certain to have learned from this latest attack, not that they really care about democratic electoral politics, they don't even care about George Bush, they just want to kill people they consider infidels.
The conservative govenrnmetn was on its way out (the leader was leaving), anyway, probably, but this was the straw that broke the camels back.
I think the Spanish government and Bush tried to link this with ETA, as opposed to Al Qaeada, because they knew they wold suffer politically if Al Qaeda was indeed proven to be involved.
here is what no one is asking......what if these explosions were caused by CIA / Mossad agents to try and scare the Spanish people into voting for Anzar, but it backfired on the them.....if this happened in the USA, people would be begging Bush to be their leader.....look at your history of CIA interference in other countries....also there was an article on this website as to how CIA interfers in other governments.....research....do some homework and put the puzzle together
look how quick they were to blame ETA the basque freedom fighters....the former president of Spain always wanted to shut down ETA from the day he came to power, and thought this was a good excuse, and when ETA deined they did it, it was plan B.....and yes the phoney arabic manuals.....this smells of right wing terrorists.....this is how the US is justifing their occupation ....but remember it's about oil and greed for Bush and gang to make money....look at all those billions being spent, never mind the looting of Iraq's museum, and monies......think ...research ....and the puzzle will come together
Regardless of who actually planted the bombs (a terrorist is a terrorist) the Spanish people sided with a new government. I find Bush's attempt to paint this as giving in to terrorism laughable. The new government is also pledging to fight terrorism, just not as part of Bush's coalition of the bribed and bullied.
Check out these quotes from Nobel-Peace-Prize winner Henry Kissinger:
"The issues are much too important for the Chilean voters to be left to decide for themselves."
"I don't see why we need to stand by and watch a country go communist due to the irresponsibility of its people."
Henry Kissinger commenting on Chile, prior to Augusto Pinochet's U.S.-supported / CIA-facilitated military coup against Chile's democratically-elected President Salvador Allende
Sounds like Bush/Cheney recently.

I know what you mean, that gets me perturbed Perturbed.
"Terrorists want the world to cower." (Sounds like a Bush terrorist) "What happened in Spain will never happen in the U.S. (unclear what he means exactly- never get voted out?, never get attacked again?- because we know when we'll be doing it again?) "We understand the stakes and we will work with our friends (which friends?- why do I cringe everytime he says our friends?) to bring justice to the terrorists." (I am so sick of Bush style justice.)
Yeah. I know many friendly Americans, but in general, I don't think Canada and the U.S. are really fiends at all. I don't think we'd talk much if we weren't neighbours, geographically.
They don`t talk with us now, THEY TELL US. Bush has no business scolding Spain. They had an election and threw out the lackey. Bush`s people FIXED the 2000 US election!!!

I don't see how this will empower the Basques...?
They may have less success now, in my opinion.
